To focus on Lindsy Von:

I believe that just to be " . . .standing in the starting gate . . ." at an Olympie event at age 41 makes you a winner.

We all make choices in life.

In years past there was a champion skier for the US Olympic team named "Peekaboo Street" (that was her real name). Like Von, she was a world class ski racer who medaled in more than one Olympic Games. Like Von, she had accidents and injuries. Like Von, she "retired" and came back for one last time.

Unlike Von, when she went down the hill, pushing the limits of physics and dynamics, she quit the course in mid race. In her words ", I had crashed too often" or something similar and withdrew.

With her previous recent injury, Miss Von should have done the same.

Swing and a miss...but a big hit to credibility.

Picabo Street

Nor did she 'quit the course in mid race'

She finished in 16th place, far from the winning time she had wanted — but fast enough for peace of mind.

Stop making excuses for Lindsey's hips and ass flaring out an inch or two compared to the last Winter Olympics. Lindsey's ass slightly wider was enough to throw her off her down hill line. Who knew Supergirl could fly backwards?

There should be meme videos of Lindsey in a Supergirl costume flying backwards to recreate the scene. Notice how she turned to her right in mid air.

Lindsey’s leaked nudes from years ago are top notch. She will forever be a winner for that to me.

Worth reposting...

"While yesterday did not end the way I had hoped, and despite the intense physical pain it caused, I have no regrets. Standing in the starting gate yesterday was an incredible feeling that I will never forget," her caption continued. "Knowing I stood there having a chance to win was a victory in and of itself. I also knew that racing was a risk. It always was and always will be an incredibly dangerous sport.

"And similar to ski racing, we take risks in life. We dream. We love. We jump. And sometimes we fall. Sometimes our hearts are broken. Sometimes we don’t achieve the dreams we know we could have. But that is the also the beauty of life; we can try.

"I tried. I dreamt. I jumped."

The headline I saw that caused me to start this thread was:

"Lindsey Vonn breaks leg. Trump calls skier a loser"

It would have been nice to see Vonn complete the course and she how she did. Instead she hooked her pole on a gate flag.

Off topic, and typical MAGAtard blather. You can’t answer the OP, so you sling crap instead.

Can't keep the heart of a competitor down.
Just because she has such, why should she stop if she feels (and it was more than a feel since she qualified) she could compete? Using your arguement, Babe Zaharias should have stopped sports during her illness. Except she didn't. She won a couple of titles after the diagnosis and before she died. She knew she could compete. Just like Vonne

Yeah. She is a professional skier. Everyone knows the Olypics pays highest for gold with silver and bronze getting a tithing of what the IOC pays. RIGHT.
She already has endorsements.

Don't kill a person here to admit a mistake.

Maggies believe they will self-emoliate (sp) to do such.

Tom Brady won a Superbowl at 43. LeBron James just made the all-star team at 41. Why not give it a go one last time before you can't? I believe Vonn is neither married nor has any kids, so she has no other responsibilities other than taking care of herself so she might as well have gone for it like she did.

I remember watching a documentary about her about 5 or 6 years ago and that lady seemed to be on her last leg back then, so I was surprised when I read that she was planning on being in this winter Olympics... I guess it is hard to give up what you know/do when you have basically been training to do it since you were walking. Good for her though for making sure she has no future regrets while thinking "I wish I gave it a go in 2026."

Whatever the political stuff or other controversy surrounding Miss Von's injury, her condition is serious and the rehabilitation going forward will be arduous.

I have endured hip replacement surgery on both sides. One procedure had to be redone due because the shank of the prothesis had separated inside the one. No, it is n ot exactly the same thing, but the intense chronic pain will be an enduring memory for her as it is for me.

One encouraging aspect of her recovery is that she is relatively young. and not an old man.
An other positive aspect of her recovery is her top n otcvh athletic condition. Both will contribute to a recovery that is as quick and complete as can be hoped for.

Whatever . . .this is a life-changing event. Her life will never be the same agin.

For Miss Von, at this time, politics shrink to near insignificance.

I think the original post is in error. Can't seem to find where Trump called Vonn a loser. He did call Hunter Hess a 'real loser' (he was wrong about that too).

Yupper. Thread started in err that she made a political comment.

Since that was not true, she leaves the Olympics well satisfied in knowing she did everything she could to compete.

And she stated she has no regrets.

Brave woman.

Now she has a broken left leg and 100% tear of the left ACL.

Of course Trump immediatley came out with his opinion: "She is a loser."
.... Please show us the clip of Trump stating that.
