What Trump is doing is the politicians version of Stolen Valor.

He’s putting his own name next to Kennedy’s hoping some of Kennedy’s fame and reputation will rub off on the Trump name.

It’s the same reason that rich people put their money to work burnishing their image by giving their money away to charity or like Nobel did by creating the Nobel prize.

You are more than likely correct. But do you think the new ballroom adds or detracts from the White House itself? The WH is a classic structure symbolic of this country. The ballroom, in my opinion, will be a gaudy, gold-clad monstrosity which will dwarf the WH and is not really needed. In Trump's first term he held exactly 2 state dinners which required more seating than was available indoors. The ballroom is another testament to Trump's ego.
