I’ve been thinking on this question for a while now and reading up on others takes on Trump’s foreign policy agenda but I can’t determine if Trump has a coherent foreign policy view or not.

It seems that his viewpoint is centered around a belief that other nations are trying to screw us in some shape or form and that the response to each country is based upon his own personal belief and nothing else.

In other words nothing he does can be understood except when filtered through Trump’s dementia riddled brain.

I think he is anti-neoconservative but like you say that depends on his personal beliefs towards individual countries. Thus he’s strongly pro Israel, although Netanyahu went too far for even him. Maybe he actually wants to do deals with Venezuela and Iran, and he’s using a similar strategy with them as he did with his vendors when he was a businessman. Push them to the breaking point and then throw them a bone. I’m not a fan of using this method with nations or creditors, but admittedly it helps Trump achieve his desired ends from time to time.

Not sure if you’re referring to Mamdani or me, but the OP’ers heroes are Gary Johnson, Rand Paul, and Switzerland from 1800 to 2020. They didn’t want to fight other peoples’ wars. Trump’s about halfway to where they are.
