Should the Ghouls Publicly Celebrating Charlie Kirk's Assassination Lose Their Jobs?

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/guyben...urder-n2663316

In the aftermath of the assassination of Charlie Kirk by a violently deranged and hate-filled leftist (yes, that is a confirmed fact), some on the hard Left have been publicly expressing justifications for, and even celebrations of, the murder. These ghouls do not represent America, nor do they represent America's center-left coalition writ large. Many politicians, public figures and private citizens on the 'progressive' end of the spectrum have prominently and unequivocally denounced the killing. This must be acknowledged and embraced with gratitude by all people of good will. The forces of decency must stand together against the cancer of political violence and twisted vigilantism. What must also be said is that there is a toxic and not-insignificant strain of leftism that indulges, excuses, and cheers on this evil. We saw it after the cold-blooded murder of healthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City. We've seen it repeatedly from the pro-Hamas hate mob for nearly two straight years. And we're seeing it again in the wake of Kirk's violent demise. Applauding murder is vile and should have no place in a civilized, free society. This should not be controversial.

cancelling and firing people over what they said/wrote on social media is a bad thing and should not happen to anyone.

it is one thing to say inappropriate things publicly on company time or speak ill of your boss which would get your ass fired like what happened to Jimmy the Greek of CBS.

Then came Attorney General Pam Bondi, who appeared on Hannity to issue an extraordinary threat: Office Depot employee who was fired for declining to print Charlie Kirk memorial flyers, she said, could face prosecution. “We can prosecute you,” Bondi warned, implying their refusal was tantamount to a hate crime.

OTOH

For years, conservatives built their identity around resisting compelled speech. They defended the Colorado baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple, arguing that the state could not force him to craft words or symbols he did not believe.

Sounds like a typical civil rights case the left loves to bring on businesses they don’t like. What’s good for the goose.

Note finding you, taking away your money, taking away your power apparently does not require "breaking the law".

Factual: Whether we like it or not (or right or not), the First Amendment protects us against the government, but employers are free (within the constrains of labor laws) to fire someone for statements made in person or online, on company or free time.

Now about firing Don Jr for his 'Halloween costume'...

What’s not OK in my opinion is for the government and government officials urging people to inform on each other and to encourage, under threat of government action, to fire or suspend the employment of anyone.

Free Speech is a fundamental right under the constitution and the government should not be involved in pushing an anti-press or anti free speech agenda.

I just had to do the googly of "real world of far left radical violence". And surprise of surprises. They ain't as blood thirsty as you think.

...But substituting "right" for "left", we come up with an entirely different animal. One could say more prone to violence on a personal level.

True maggie hypocrite. Thinks she owns the play book.

... THAT - is WRONG on two fronts!

... First, Pam Bondi is correct on this - and, no, she was NOT
implying it's a possible "hate crime" as much as it's a
possible violation of the law... Refusing to print the
posters because the printer didn't fancy the message.

... Second, the bakery case is different altogether.
The bakery surely claimed "Religious Exemption"...

... You must have missed that. ...

Actually the standard is deep held beliefs. The court decided that the religious belief was exactly that. I’d prefer not to provide service to a Klansman. Hence, I’ll refer to do so, unless you believe I shouldn’t have that option. If I shouldn’t have that option, no one should, right?
