While she and Bonilla-Chavez ran up and down stairways and wandered hallways, she said, they could hear rioters getting louder and louder, trying to break inside, and felt that at any moment the attackers might breach the building. Ocasio-Cortez said they finally found U.S. Rep. Katie Porter, D-Calif., and ended up sheltering in place in her office.


All of the above allegedly happened at the time the officer had come to evacuate her. That was at one o'clock per her timeline. There was no breach of any building until @ 2:30 and the building she was in was never breached.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on Cuomo Prime Time Thursday as Republicans look to discount Ocasio-Cortez’s experience during the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6. Ocasio-Cortez, who is a constant target of conservative media, told of her experience that day in an Instagram Live on Monday, saying that she feared for her life. The pushback began on Thursday after Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) posted a tweet stating that her office is two doors down from Ocasio-Cortez’s and that there were no insurrectionists in the hallway. However, on the day of the insurrection, Mace tweeted that they were being moved from their offices because of a nearby threat. Porter said any criticism of Ocasio-Cortez’s account is “absolutely untrue,” and confirmed that the fear was very real.

“She came to my office building. I saw her. She asked if she could come into my office. I am here to tell you and everybody, she was terrified,” Porter said, adding, “I have never seen her like that before. She was clearly very, very rattled and very, very scared.”

Porter said they hid in her office for several hours that day, with the lights and their phones turned off, unsure of what was just outside.

I never claimed that her fear wasn't real. Only her account of the events. Porter never verifies Cortez's claims about the events, only that she was scared.
Cortez claimed that she was evacuated because of the rioters trying to enter the building she was in. Not true. Rioters never tried to enter any building but the Dome.
She claimed that this all happened at @ 1:00 or shortly thereafter. The actual attack on the capital building took place shortly before 2:30. At that time there was no one attacking either of the administrative buildings. No rioters entered the tunnel system through the capital. There were no roving bands of rioters combing the halls looking for her.
Is Ms. Porter lying about AOC being scared? I don't know but I doubt it. Does Ms. Porter back up Cortez's timeline of events? Nowhere in what you posted and nowhere else that I've seen. If she did then she would be lying. Would Ms. Porter lie? Of course, she is a politician.

The evacuation was because of the pipe bombs at another location not because of rioting. She claimed that her fearful reaction to to capital policeman's arrival was that she feared it was the crowd coming for her and hid in the bathroom. There had been no rioting crowds anywhere at that point and no one knew it was coming. An hour and 1/2 later crowds entered the capital building and she was nowhere near it.
