Someone wired me 5k earlier this year to fly out to him (expenses + rate) and just trusted that I would actually show up after I had his money. I asked him what he would've done if I never showed up. To get back to the original question of why some still look at backpage. It's because to me there is more to search. There are a number of ECCIE providers I see when they are available and so are my funds but sometimes I look for something else. If I see a mature provider then a search with google is in order. Not into ones just out of puberty. Yes I've been burned back before I joined ECCIE and posted reviews but others were well worth the investment. One that I see is now a verified provider with a showcase on the forum who still uses Backpage. Why, because some of her clients do not use ECCIE and if they don't see a post they think she is unavailable. In this hobby we all take our chances verified or not.

Two possibilities:
1) This is exactly the type of idiotic set of circumstances which would result in a hook getting an overinflated estimate of her value and lead to an out of control entitlement mentality, stat.
2) The poor dumb shithead who allowed this to happen to him self-extorted and is an embarassment to his gender.

Its also not extortion. If I go there a fella needs to pay me equal or more to what I make not leaving my house. Its business choices. Im sorry you have to meet or exceed what I already make. Thats the way it goes... It costs time & money to travel, no way around it.

I wouldn't travel for anything other than full salary plus per diem compensation to cover expenses.
Of course, although I do make a living by exchanging services for money, in what I genuinely believe is a form of stealing, the field I work in is not an inherently illegal one and in no way requires me to be a sneak or take chances.
The money is irrelevant to me, at least at the magnitude we're sitting here talking about.
My primary objection by far is sharing critical personal information and living in fear because of it.
I have found that with providers who are on ECCIE one's reviews on this site confer some credibility, such that references are often not required. By initiating contact through a PM on this site, the provider knows you are a member and can easily check your reviews/posts, etc.
It doesn't hurt if you have a Lounge named after you either......

And in the few years that I've been around & offering employment verification, never once has there been an issue for those who decide to do it.
Yeah - those worst case scenario what if situations are a real concern, I get that. But my thoughts are if one does their homework they can eliminate some of that risk. For some it is worth it and it works for them, you don't have to agree with it.

Never once tried to do anything. These are words on a computer screen, and they represent my opinion at the time I write them.
Whether you like them or not I'm not forcing opinions any more than anyone who types their thoughts in his or her computer.

And... there are shady people in ALL industries. Ive experienced far more shady mo fo's in other business ventures that were 100% legal than this.
