A Democrat President goes on vacation?! Cue up right-wing indignation!

A President on vacation still has meetings, still has daily briefings, still has the codes for the nuclear football. It's not like he unplugs and disappears into the woods for a period of weeks.
----
I mean...

Were you just as indignant when Bush took a month off immediately before 9/11?

What about when Bush shattered days-off record?

"Calls to several Presidential libraries reveal that President Obama’s predecessor, George W. Bush, was on vacation more — 1,020 days — than any U.S. President since Herbert Hoover and possibly more than any other President in history. Bush took the longest single vacation — 5 weeks — of any President in 36 years.
...
President Bush spent 32% of his presidency on vacation." Source.

...and Congress is on vacay FAR more than the-POTUS:
The 2013 [Congressional] calendar released by House Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor lists only 128 days scheduled for the next year. That’s about two days off for every one on the job.

Perhaps the right-wing ought to be taking issue with congressional vacation time before they criticize the president. Hell...wake me up there's a real story here and not just more of the IOKIYAR bullshit. Leaders of the free world, Republicans and Dems alike, deserve some time off. If they choose to work from home-base (Crawford, Santa Barbara, Hawaii) as opposed to the White House: So be it.

I love the next to last line in the blog: "Of course, there's no reason to begrudge the first family for enjoying a good vacation."

But, since they are douchebags, they will.

Typical whirlyturd 'tard post. Nothing to see here, move along.

You might have a legitimate point if it wasn't for chronic unemployment, the sequester, and debt that is drowning our nation.................

But somehow the first family feels an obligation to party on............

Fucking pigs.

Again, the Obamazombies miss the point...it isn't about the Obama girls, it is about their parents.............

But being a left wing nutcase, no surprise you are hiding behind the kids.

Were you just as indignant when Bush took a month off immediately before 9/11? You don't refute your own argument. First you say that all presidents have meetings and stuff but then you complain that Bush had time off (wasn't he having meetins and stuff too). Of course we also know that Obama doesn't have meetings with his military commanders, members of Congress even when he is at home.

What about when Bush shattered days-off record? Once again old source and "shattered" really? That does nothing to help your statement except make you look strident.

This is plagarism plain and simple. You even cut and pasted one of the quotation marks. Just like the original, this is an old source.
...
President Bush spent 32% of his presidency on vacation." Source. This source is from early last year 2012.

You're not too good at this are you?

The point of the OP concerns the sequester and the shut down of the White House to tours. This has little to do with past years so you can stop bringing up Bush and his working vacations at his OWN HOUSE in Texas. It cost the US taxpayer a small fortune everytime the president, the VP, the first lady, or the first daughters leave the White House. It costs the taxpayer about $18,000 a week to run White House tours. So when the VP spends over a $1,000,000 for two days in Europe for no apparent reason then people have to ask. Same thing here with the daughters. Spring break is over for most students now and it was only a week. This vacation is going to be for a month and seems to have started after spring break. Only one of these girls is not in grade school so spring break for both of them??? The quesition is, "how much is it costing the US taxpayer for these little girls (and friends like in Mexico) to have a good time?".

How would you feel as the owner of a company who found out that his CEO was sending his family on vacations on the company dime and had made statements that he was not concerned with the cost while at the same time refused to buy coffee filters for the break room because the CEO claimed he didn't have the money in the budget.
