Who amongst our lovely ladies has worn a true corset? I'm talking about the steel-boned ones that can actually take off 4 inches from your waists. While I do appreciate the ones from Fredericks and other places that look cute, the plastic boning and stitching really don't allow you to tight-lace.

If you have worn one, how many of you actually wear them for play or special occassions? Any favorite material, cut or maker?

I've always found a corsetted woman to be extremely desirable. I'm not sure why, possibly because of the enhanced curves, but I think also because a woman who enjoys being corsetted seems to exude more femininity and self-confidence in herself. She seems to know she's more sexy and that knowledge allows her to more easily project herself. Of course, most of the women I know who do wear corsets are either into female-empowering things like burlesque dancing or are dommes (pro and otherwise). I've not met/seen as many submissive women corsetted, even though I know they are out there.

i have one and love it, its has 16 steel boning in it, and is impossible to slouch or bend in the center in. i wear it for special occasions only as it quite expensive. Took over an hour to lace and the lace was like 5 foot 6 foot long, and there is technique to it, its not just criss cross. Yet up and down in the center.

You look very nice in your corset there Cilla! I can see why yours might take a while to lace up. With no busk you are stuck with having to loosen the laces every time you want to take it on/off.

Have you ever looked at Etsy? There are lots of really nice corsetieriers on there. I've also found this lady down around Houston who makes some exquisite custom pieces - http://www.electradesigns.net/

Thanks for the compliment, great link, that one was customized for me, but it is still quite hard to get off and on, so i only wear it from time to time.

What is the name of that group who trains their waist to be super small? The cincher group? Something along those lines.

There was a client of mine from years ago who had a corset made for him from this lady ... and I'm trying to find her website. No luck.

But she was a member of this group and had like a 21" waist.

She was beautiful but this group was also a little bizarre (probably a poor word choice but it was a different type of group).

I have several. I stay away from leather (obviously) and I don't wear them for fetish wear. I like corsets, I like the way I look in them and I feel sexier and more seductive when I wear one. Recently, I bought one from Scarlette because I love the blue and black silk it's made from. I also have a black, long line, half hip that should be finished in a few weeks. I have others, including a pair that I had made for sleeping in and I've been focusing on waist training quality lately.

I'm going to start waist training soon, I'm gearing up for it and worked in one for the first time, the other day. I don't want to be super tiny but I've been losing weight and working out and I want to reshape.

If you go to etsy, you can have a corset made with almost any outer fabric you want and still have a triple layer, steel boned, quality corset. Mario, cup cakes, Batman, anything you like.

I wear corsets during my sessions a lot. I love the way they look and feel. I used to spend more money on corsets and fetish wear than regular street clothes. I love the pin up look. There is something about the way they look and feel that is empowering.

The term you are looking for is tightlacing. There is a site called Long Island Staylace Association (http://www.staylace.com/) that has some wonderful links to it. There are some other groups on LiveJournal that deal with corsetry wearing and the making of (http://community.livejournal.com/corsetmakers/ and http://community.livejournal.com/costuming/).

If you are seeking a corset I highly reccomend trying to find someone local to custom make one, or failing that, attend a local BDSM convention and you will usually find 1-2 corset vendors there where you can try on different styles and cuts. Most of them will also create you one based on any requests or changes you make while getting fitted if they dont' have what you want in stock.

The better waist training corsets are often made of a canvas/heavier fabric. They aren't pretty and some don't come with a busk even. But they are going to be more than strong enough to truly train your waist. Are you going to try the full tight-lacing regime, where you are laced 23hrs a day? Check out the Wasp creations website. They used to have a good primer on waist training and how helpful it is to have someone be your mentor/enforcer for when you really aren't wanting to be laced down tight!

Yep, a good corset that isn't Hot Topic quality is going to run you $200-$300. And if you want to go further up the line and get into high-quality rubber wear you are looking at $500 easily.

One thing about corsets is that price doesn't always equate to quality. Some vendors sell good, and relatively inexpensive corsets, while others sell them for the kink quality but would be more fairly priced for half of what they are asking.

Northbound leather has some exquisite corsets. Places like Romantasy in San Francisco are basically resellers, so unless you feel that the middleman is offering you something for the markup, its best to cut them out of the loop.

And then there is latex.... oh my...
