Cheapest place to buy a large aquarium and stand?
I remember when I was growing up there used to be great mom and pop pet stores all up and down Highway 6 by Westheimer that my parents used to take me to. The prices were much cheaper then petsmart and petco … Well now in days, it seems all those places are gone.
I went looking today and couldn’t find any mom and pop pets shops … do those places still exist?
The only place I could find was off Kirby and 59 and it was even more expensive then petco or petsmart.
I’m looking for about 150 gallon tank and a black or modern looking stand.
Thanks!

There used to be an independent on 290 southbound side around the Antoine exit.
Petco and Petsmart have put a lot of independent out of business, just like Walmart.

Fish Tks
First place I would try is "City Pets" 713-271-7387 or "Fish Land" 281-497-3474.
They should be able to quote you a price over the phone.

There is a place off 45 south Almeda Genoa exit just past that old mall on the service road where the guy there is an artist on saltwater tanks.
Sells the tanks, fish, coral, plants, and even will come to your home once a month to keep the water right... salt content, temp and ph level or whatever needs to be done. This guy is an artist like I say...his tanks are the most colorful and full of life I have ever seen...beautiful stuff this guy!

Awesome, thanks for the replies, this gives me a great starting point. As for Craigslist, I don’t want to buy a used aquarium and stand so that rules them out. I already searched Craigslist for “new” aquariums and stands and couldn’t find anything.

I tried googling and 1/2 or more of the numbers listed were disconnected ... I have never heard that .... "the number you have called is no longer in service" .... message so many times in my life.

LOL ... yep it is for the turtles ... this tank will be their forever home till I die. I have been putting away 5 bucks a day for almost 2 years so I could afford this new set up. The filter alone is going to cost about a grand. When me and my dad went out yesterday I thought he was going to have a heart attack. He just kept saying "sweetie, just throw them in the lake and get some new small ones" ... in all the years he still has not figured out I actually have a bond with these 2 turtles and enjoy their antics. They are CRAZY active. They are like water puppies … all they do is play and rough house with each other … lol. With classes starting next week, this is the best time for me to get this done.

I know a very good Cabinet maker north of Houston (Cut ad Shoot) that could build anything you need.

These types seem to be into more to perpetuate his craft that to make a ton of money. If I had problems with a 150 gallon aquarium, he's the one that I would want on retainer.
