How do you feel before/after leaving a "No" review?
Sorry for the long post. I'd like to get your feelings as to what I should do, as well as know how you feel before/after you leave a "no" review.
I'd like to preface this by saying:
I recently had my hair cut & dyed. It was a pretty big color change, so I contacted a "color specialist" I found through google.
I then went to her Facebook page & found a picture of the exact color I was looking for from someone she had worked on previously.
I contacted her & she asked me to send her the picture from FB & include some pictures of my current hair, length & color. She then replied & said she can achieve that color. It would take about 4 hours & cost around $500. I made the appointment & went in.
She works in a large salon where you rent your own room & set it up as you wish. Her space was nice. She was extremely friendly & accommodating.
Now to the bad part, after 4 hours she shows me my hair & it is NOT EVEN CLOSE to the blonde I requested. I expressed my dissatisfaction to which she replied - "I can get you to that color, it's just going to take 2 or more sessions" (of course @ $500 a piece ). I paid my bill & left.
This was 2 weeks ago & I am so torn as to if I should leave her a review or not. I should mention all of her reviews are 5 stars. She was nice, but let's be honest, I didn't go there looking to make a friend. I went for a service which I feel like she failed miserably at. I feel like I should leave a review, but then again, I don't want to negatively impact her business & knowing that I would be blemishing her 5-star rating makes me feel even worse.
What should I do?
How do you guys deal with leaving a provider a "no" review when you feel like the experience was worthy of that "no". Do you feel bad? Do you even take the other persons feelings into account? Or is it just cut & dry that the service level you were expecting was not up to par, so you leave a bad review without giving it any thought?
Thanks for taking the time to read my long post & for helping me make a decision as to what I should do.

I would never leave a no review on a provider. If I have a bad experience I simply chalk it up to the cost of being in this arena. Win some, lose a lot lol because other are exactly like me and don’t want to tarnish our reputation or receive the backlash that comes with it. I had a horrible experience with a lady that a well known hobbyist raved about. I just ate the money spent. I wouldn’t give her a bad review on yelp. What do you have to gain? You messed your money off and you know you are definitely never going back so …….

As a former licensed cosmetologist, I say leave the negative review by all means. Be nice, and be fair, but don't sugar coat that you did not get what you paid for. This helps others from wasting their money.
I had a salon try to do the same thing to me, they didn't give me the color I asked for and then tried to pull the old bs about it needing several appointments to achieve the look.
As a former stylist, if it takes several appointments to achieve the look you asked for, then they don't know what they are doing and are basically experimenting. Hair color is determined by a formula. If they are just guessing, they aren't using a formula. Guessing and experimenting is something we can do at home for free. Professionals are paid because they know what they are doing.
I see women getting taken advantage of all the time in salons and getting ripped off for big bucks and I am fuming because I have had a proper education in cosmetology and know for a fact they are full of shit.
Long story short, you should have gotten what you wanted and if you didn't, they should have offered to fix it for free.
And any man in here would agree with me that if they had a session with a provider who did not provide in the first session, and then told them a bullshit story about how they need 2-3 sessions, each with a donation, to give a result - they wouldn't hesitate on a bad review. I have seen bad reviews written for less.
Sorry for getting on my soapbox, it just really infuriates me to see people getting ripped off at salons since I have spent my fair share working behind a chair.
She originally told you "She can achieve that color. It would take about 4 hours & cost around $500."
She did not originally say it would take several sessions at $500 each.

Each person's hair is different & it is difficult to really say how much work it will take to get it a certain color from just looking at pictures "individual results may vary".
It can be impossible to get to a specific color without damaging your hair in the process.
But once there she would have known & should have told you before she even started.
The hair game is tricky, she may have messed up on the color & knew it would take 2 more treatments to correct it.
Or she figured you would settle for whatever color it came out or would just agree to more sessions.
I would definitely leave a negative review although it probably won't affect her if she's any good at what she does.
Most good beauticians' business comes from regular customers.
I wouldn't hesitate to give a young lady a negative review for something like this.
It would be like her offering xyz but only doing x & saying you can't get yz until after multiple visits.

In your case leave a STERN negative review & include the part where she said she could achieve that color but failed to mention it would take more than 1 session. It is called "Up selling" and we see it all the time. How many times has a man in this site posted about some provider or massage person saying they will do "this" for an extra $$$?
As for me, if I receive basic service I don't post a review. If it was above average I will write a draft of the review I may or may not leave in a notepad file. I tend to think about it.
If it was less than basic / bait&switch / up selling I *WILL*
write a negative review because I believe this:
Everyone is entitled to have a bad day but if you work in the "inter-personal" service then you won't perform as well as you should. Take a day(s) off to reset. Or scale back what you offer so doing like a FBSM though less earning still brings in money.
Or power through and give above basic to avoid the negative review.

It is a tactic they use to get you to keep coming back. I was a blonde for 10 plus years and I used to go to a salon. The owner used to talk to me about the secrets they use and tactics... same thing happened to a good friend I've known for years... I started doing her hair and in just 2 sessions, her hair is a gorgeous platinum (what she wanted)...
Salons will tell you, "oh, your hair will burn and fall off if we do a lighter color, you'll need to come for at least 3 more sessions". It's bs.. they just want your other $1,000... or more... my friend spent THOUSANDS for a regular blonde color... she now has the healthiest looking, feeling hair. I make sure I do the whole enchilada for her!(‐: bleach, tone, deeeeeeep condition.

You should absolutely leave a bad review. There being lots of 5 star reviews is just a form of peer pressure and it benefits businesses for customers to be afraid to leave bad reviews.
A common rule of thumb in school was always "If you have a question, ask because other students are wondering the same thing but are afraid to ask. You'll be helping them".
It's the same rule here. If you had a bad experience, its likely others did too. And other potential customers deserve to make fully informed decisions about how they spend their money just like you do.

As I said, customers should look out for other customers. We all have a right to make a fully informed decision. If no one ever leaves bad reviews, then you can't really know if a provider was truly having an off day or is just a bad provider. This also applies to non sex work. Think restaurants, dentists, lawyers. They could be having a bad day, or they could be bad at their job. Reviews are our only way of knowing which is which. It's mind boggling to think that people want others to have *less* information when making a decision. Do you not care about your money?
Let customers decide if a no review if a one off or a pattern based on the other reviews. Its not your place to make that decision for others.

IMO, just be factual and not emotional in your review. But the service stinks. She misrepresented what she could do for you, then when you said you weren't happy with the initial results, she immediately upsold you.
Deceptive and should serve as an FYI to others about your actual experience with her.

I greatly appreciate everyone's responses. It certainly gives me something to think about & has me questioning somethings about her now.
I still don't know if I will be able to find the strength to leave her a less than stellar review. I guess I'm weak Even though it's just through google, I hate confrontation.
I never thought about the deceptive angle of this. Maybe y'all are right. Maybe she knew all along that she could not achieve the color I wanted & she simply wanted me in that chair to get my money & than try to upsell numerous more appointments to reach the level of blonde I requested.
I still feel so torn, but y'all have definitely given me some new things to consider

I guess if my provider gave me a bad haircut but great sex, I’d still give a yes recommendation but would caution about the hair. To be honest, I reckon you should give a no review if she didn’t achieve the hairstyle color you believed she was able to deliver and for that amount.

I would only leave a no review if things were grossly misrepresented. Ie, ad shows young Asian girl and you get there and it’s an old black lady. I have had bad meetings with girls but sometimes you just don’t connect with someone or you go into it with preconceived notions and then it doesn’t meet your expectations. That’s not necessarily her fault.
I have seen no reviews on a girl or seen negative talk about a girl I have seen, and thought wow. That’s nothing like my experience with her.
Like my buddy in the car sales business says, there’s a butt for every seat.
