Are you a catholic?

I am, and this means nothing to me.

Why is this news?

Accentuating the failures of Catholiscism?

Arguments over texts goes back to "The life of Brian", a Monty Python production.

Thank you very much.

It's news because he's a very powerful, influential Catholic and they're one of tbe most respected, female orders in the Church.

And it involves Charlie Kirk

Thanks for contributing

Even nuns are full of shit these days. Another reason, as if the current reasons weren’t enough, to not be associated with the Catholic Church in any way, shape or form.

I didn’t personally agree with the evangelical side of Kirk, or any other bible thumper for that matter, but if you believe any of that crap you’ve never bothered to watch how he conducted himself. While he may have spoken to facts that many would rather not hear, they’re still facts and certainly not presented in a hateful manner. He was a highly effective communicator and clearly headed for the presidency, which is why he’s dead.

I've almost certainly watched more Kirk footage over the years than you.

We'll disagree

I agree, I have never heard him say something with hate.

As a Libertarian, I have issues with the directives of any group that is based upon deriving a living from others, and what they say, usually that is, whatever is needed to take in more money.

TP USA is not a friend of the Catholic Church, they take funds and attention away from the Church, and worse, they are growing, and now after the assassination, they only want their share of the money pot.

Nuns, the unpaid free workers of the Catholic Church, are even worse, I consider them an oppressed group of people, forced to dress a certain way and live a certain way based only on their religion.

No different, but in a much smaller scale, the same ideology that forces Muslim women to go out in public in a burka.

They can't speak to God, not like the Priests.

Part of the reason I became a Minister is because its a finger to the Catholic Church, I don't need a special school and the need to not have sex to speak the word of God, If I FEEL the need to.

No need to read it again, as I knew in advance it was ONLY going to be critical about Charlie Kirk in some manner.

Here's the full statement from the Sisters

Quote:
Several of us watched Cardinal Dolan’s recent FOX interview, where he referred to Charlie Kirk as “a modern-day St. Paul.” The Cardinal praised Mr. Kirk’s conviction and willingness to speak about the Lord and for being a model for young people looking for meaning in their lives.

We grieve every loss of life and unequivocally condemn the killing of Mr. Kirk.

What Cardinal Dolan may not have known is that many of Mr. Kirk’s words were marked by racist, homophobic, transphobic, and anti-immigrant rhetoric, by violent pro-gun advocacy, and by the promotion of Christian nationalism. These prejudicial words do not reflect the qualities of a saint. To compare Mr. Kirk to St. Paul risks confusing the true witness of the Gospel and giving undue sanction to words and actions that hurt the very people Jesus calls us to love.

Just last week, Cardinal Dolan joined us in celebrating the 50th anniversary of the canonization of our Foundress, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Elizabeth’s legacy is not one of exclusion or hatred, but of radical welcome, tireless service, and unwavering love of neighbor. Many of Mr. Kirk’s words stand in stark contrast to the charity and compassion that defined those of Elizabeth Seton.

For generations, the Sisters of Charity of New York have cared for immigrant families arriving with nothing but hope. While our direct service has changed, our commitment to those families endures. They deserve true examples of discipleship, not false prophets.

In this moment, we reaffirm our mission: to walk with all people who are poor and marginalized, to welcome immigrants and refugees, to defend the dignity of LGBTQ+ persons, and to labor for peace in a world saturated with violence. These are the marks of authentic discipleship. These are the qualities of saints.

We urge our Church leadership, including Cardinal Dolan, to lift up witnesses whose lives truly reflect the Gospel of Jesus Christ – lives of humility, justice, compassion, and peace.

We will continue to pray for Mr. Kirk, his family and for all who mourn his loss.

Leadership Team, Sisters of Charity of New York

Sr. Donna Dodge, Sr. Margaret O’Brien, Sr. Mary Mc Cormick,

Sr. Mary Ann Daly, Sr. Sheila Brosnan, Sr. Margaret Egan 9/24/2025

100 Percent why the Catholic Church is fucked.

Sounds more like an LGBT rally and a cheer for illegals to come here and spend more government money on them.

Jesus himself recognized the importance of respecting the human dignity of others. He would have been aiding and ministering to LGBTQ+ and immigrants, as He did with the poor and His very own people, the Jews, who were still quite preyed upon by others.

Maybe we should try to He more like JC and less like those who feared him and put Him to death. He was cool with hookers, too. He was not cool with those who made money in His Father's house.

Yeah, I saw Ben Hur too.

Took an NRA Legend to play the guy who was next to Jesus.

Good chariot scene, and lepers, gotta have lepers.

He would have been aiding and ministering to LGBTQ+ and immigrants,

So, he would have been ministering to the Romans then?

They were immigrants.

And, if people are naturally born GAY, why weren't there any nose ring wearing lesbians in Rome?

And, lets just go back a few days, for that matter, when God put man on the earth, he created Adam, correct?

And then did he create Eric or Eve?

Thats the problem with using both sides as a cudgel, you gotta defend now why God choose to put Adam and Eve here first......

He didn't. I'm not required to be a Bible literalist and not bound by it as a historical record. Old Testament God was kind of a dick.

For all you know he let two Franks spoon before he settled on Adam and Eve after Adam and Lilith and then sent both Franks to Mars, PA.

Still doesn't mean the Sisters of Charity are wrong.

Or right.

And thats all that matters to you.
