For lunch South Union Bread Company is really good. Sandwich shop/deli.
If you like Italian, close to downtown on Ingersol is Noah's Ark.
There is also Bubba's and Tupelo Honey, both kind of southern style.
Over in the East Village on Grand is Zombie Burger if you feel like a burger or chicken sandwich.
A bit further east on Grand is Olympic Flame for Greek.

Jesse's Embers on Ingersoll. Been a favorite spot of mine since the 1960s. Excellent food and service.
