I just don't get it, there are laws preventing the use and ownership of evil rifles in NYC, but it appears a young, black appearing young man use what looks like a supressed AR15.

How does that even happen, you can't legally buy one, let alone carry it openly on the streets of NYC?

Our options are to limit gun ownership across the country or live with the fact that crazy people will eventually get a gun regardless of the laws of the state they live in because they can always go to another state to get one legally.

I think some sensible gun laws should be in effect but only if they are enforced the same across every state. Without that proviso most gun laws are useless.

We need better mental health services across the country as well but if they aren’t being funded now I seriously doubt they will get any real support in the future.

early reports say not. more likely a disgruntled employee probably present if badge access was required and the specific area and his background should show soon which company in this building he targeted.

sadly we will likely never know what his gripe was fully about. News said he was from Vegas- same place another crazy shooter got his freak on. While I am all for having guns- NY laws states:

Essentially, you can carry a gun- but it's gotta be unloaded.

I honestly don't see why you would bring a long rifle into an office building per se, when a 45 or desert eagle would be much easier for concealing and reloading. plus extra mags. Licensed security guard, likely legally bought the gun.

IF, he was diagnosed with brain damage, and had any violent tendencies he should have been flagged by the medical system.

On an AR15, the lower receiver is the firearm, unlike most firearms it has no barrel, which, has gotten cases against bad guys tossed in court, because its a confliction of laws.

Once you have the receiver, you just buy and put on the other parts, nothing else is regulated.

So, no Red Flag laws can work if a "Straw Man" buys the gun.

As I tried to point out in the OP, no amount of laws, will stop and sick person from getting a gun.

Impossible to stop, all NYC does is disarm all the sheeple from protecting themselves when the Wolf arrives.

I know you hate laws but individuals selling weapons to individuals without any possible way or even interest in looking at that persons mental history needs to stop.
