From seeing random posts over the years I get the impression it's not real common, but not rare either. Maybe just not actively discussed.

I had an opportunity to be a male partner with a switch who I knew pretty well and enjoyed a lot. She was a sub for me, but had a guy who she was dom with and he wanted another guy to join as a dom. Sounded like fun, but never happened. He changed his mind.
