Default Random acts of kindness

Watched a mother bring her child in for breakfast earlier this morning. As soon as the order was taken she devoted all her attention on her daughter. On my way out I prepaid her bill without her knowledge.

I'm tired of the &%$# show here. The women almost avoid us like the plague. Why can't you let nice, simply be nice.

Agreed.

Had a disagreement with a provider on Twitter about this topic. She said she got more than she gave. Told her that diminishes the point of it being a selfless act. It should be all about the receiver, not the giver. She didn't get it.

Matthew 6 “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Years ago I was coming out the door of 4240 Blue Ridge Blvd. There was an old woman slowly pushing a walker and struggling to get through the automatic door. I pushed the button for her and watched her exit. As she was walking I could see that she was walking toward a group of people who I surmised (correctly) was her family. This woman was struggling while her family was standing, smoking and joking! I grabbed her walker, grabbed her hand and tucked her elbow into the inside of my left arm and proceeded to escort her to the car! Her family lept into action!! Made it to the back door, helped her into the car. On parting I whispered to her something like “you think these people will do a better job of taking care of their mother next time?”. She gave me a mischievous smile and that was it!

Some years later, standing in the WalMart checkout. There was another older woman checking out. She realized she didn’t have the cash. The cashier had that look! I’m thinking “fuck that”! Walked up to the cashier, gave her my debit card to cover the rest. There was some change, told the cashier to give it to the woman! The woman thanked me profusely and went on her way!!

I’ve never even told my family those stories!

I find that random acts with a stranger are best. You know you did something nice and will never meet them again. When you help monetarily those who you think of as friends, you generally get screwed. Best just keep your money in your pocket. Unless you want to hear every excuse in the book why they went on vacation, bought a new car, etc.

Johnny -
Thank you; this is one of the most import examples of what Jesus taught us.

I try to give every chance I get. Even a random smile can make a huge difference in someones life. You never know what someone is going through or what's going on in their mind, sometimes the smallest gestures are the biggest things we can do for others

I have a resale booth at our local flea market..whenever I put fresh stock out,I take the toys that have been in my booth a long time to the neighbors...she has 4 kids under 10!

my momma is best example of kidness..
for her 90th birthday party she had over 100 people at her party..she requested the only presents to be supplies for her "gift boxes for the kids"..it is a program where her church sends needed supplies in shoe boxes all over the US to underpriveledged kids.....after we unwrapped her presents,we ended up packing up 8 laundry baskets full of stuff for the boxes!!!!!

anoth example
YourDesire..
a few years ago my oldest brother died a horrible and quick death from brain cancer..i was really feeling depressed..she had a stepping stone made up for me to put on his grave..which I did!!
