unions good or bad
Unions have done a lot to help workers from being taken advantage of. Some good work rules to prevent an employer from telling a worker he has to do something, or if not, get fired instantly.
On the other hand
I have some cargo inside a port terminal. The empty container to be loaded is also inside the terminal. But the port is unionized......they won't load the container......so both the cargo and empty container have to be taken out of the terminal, loaded, and taken back to the same place at the terminal where they sat before.......added cost of $ 2,000.

So....
You didn't follow procedures?
99.9999% of container containers require customs papers departing and arriving, prebooking on the container ship quite a bit in advance, etc.
Those are not union issues.

Worked in 2 union kitchens when I was coming up. It was like losing another 1/4 of your paycheck to the mob. I'll never work in another union shop again, bunch of scam artist.

I apprenticed in a trade union. Worked in the trade. Got my skills, and hours. Got paid, with benefits, the entire time. Got my license. Now I work for myself, and make a good living, thanks to the union.
Not all unions are alike. Some are good, some are great, some are leeches.
Research, research, research.

Nothing to do with any of that. All that had to be done was put the cargo into the empty container, and they were about 20 yards from each other. It couldn't be loaded inside the terminal because of union work rules.

I’m Union, love my Union, I enjoy doing work at double what I’m worth and my guaranteed 40 hours even though we average 25 hours a week of down time. Couldn’t ask for a better job. I pay 2.5 hours a month in Union dues and my taxes, nothing else gets taken out of my check, my 401k is company paid $80 a week.
Since going Union I realized my taxes ain’t much, compared to my employer non-union stealing the majority of MY Earnings to cover health insurance. I can see how overpaying for your healthcare can make you hate the fact you pay taxes too. My advice is to find a better employer.

So, if you had nothing to do with it, how do you know anything about it? You don't.

If only our social security 2T$ could have been put in the stock market 4 years ago, it would be over $10T now !!!!!
Pensions are under strict investment rules, you can't just look back and say, they should have done this differently.

You either completely missed the point, did not read, or are unable to comprehend.
The union rules at the terminal do not allow them to load containers inside the port terminal. Even when the cargo and empty container are sitting right next to each other.
The only way to get to get it loaded is to take both the cargo and empty container outside the port, load it, and bring the loaded container back to the port, in the same place it was.
