Alas, he got a bunch of people to talk about it on this silly ole whore board, so it makes him a big man.
In any event, trying to compare teams from year to year is a waste.
The Mavs managed to make it through the schedule, the injuries, and some pretty decent competition in this playoff stretch. I think at the beginning of the season, most sports pundits would have picked the Heat to take it all. Once it came down to the Mav-Heat finals, the Heat were still favorites. The MAVs did it without the showboating that makes for good ratings on television, just good old hard work, dedication, and self-motivation. No, they don't have a high-dollar star, don't have a flashy player, don't stick their tongues out at the competition, the refs, or the fans. (They let Mark Cuban handle those duties, but thankfully, he seemed to show some maturity during the playoffs.)
Final note: Contrary to popular rumor started by the Cowboys organization and 'America's Team' designation, most of the country dislikes Texas and Dallas. The only positive for the Mavs was that King James' attitude turned off enough people to make beating the Heat a higher priority than dishing Dallas.
(Most people really don't understand geography and the fact that the Cowboys were an Irving, now Arlington team, so the minor cities of the metroplex, including Cowtown, don't even make the sporting maps. A recent show I watched (one of the versions of Criminal Minds) had a murder at the new Cowboy's stadium being investigated by Dallas PD, and geographically had pins on the map for other murders all mucked up.)
