Just returned from a week in the UK and managed to see a local independent lady. Aside from the normal activities we had a great discussion contrasting the state of the hobby in the UK compared to here.

Seems that in London, the great majority of providers are Eastern European and completely tied into agency escorting. Escort agencies are completely illegal in the UK, and, according to my source, controlled by Russian Mafia types. Essentially, if the photos in the ads look too professionally done/ photoshopped/ etc., you're talking agency/Mafia run. Often, you'll find the same pix listed under multiple sites and names along the lines of what some of the Back Page women do here, except, the ladies are definitely not in control here.

We took a look at the P411 listings for London in greater detail, and sure enough, ultimately found all were agency affiliated.

As it happens, I found one of the few Indy's. She is Czech and, like many of our local ladies, well educated (degree in medical law). She claims that in all of London there are only 50-60 Indy's (which I kind of find hard to believe) and '700 agencies'.

Interestingly, it is legal to be an independent escort in London. However, aside from the normal concerns in screening their clientele, the Indy's are also dealing with keeping safe from the agencies and those who run them. In her case, she screens to A) make sure the gent isn't a psycho, B) it's not an agency trying to find out her location, and C) it isn't someone of an ethnic background she chooses to profile against. In fact, she says she has 2-3 regular clients who are LE and actually 'assist' here from time to time in screening.

All in all, I thought the removal of the legal concerns, while a plus, was more than compensated in safety concerns in avoiding the agencies.

BTW, a one-bedroom flat in a good area of London can easily command a $1,000,000 price tag. Across from Harrod's department store is a brand new building where the apartments are selling for $250,000,000. Yes, 1/4 of a billion dollars for an apartment. The typical purchaser, Chinese and Russian 'business' people.

Nice report. The legal aspect there is an improvement over ours, but somehow the dark side of organized crime and trafficking manages to mess things up.

I can remember the day when the mobs controlled most of the action in Rochester. Some operations where ok. But I still like the indys, it was the way to go then.
