My ECCIE Reviews
Default Any MO lawyers? Not hobby related

I wasn't sure which forum to put this in, but I'm looking for a Missouri licensed lawyer, preferably family law, to help a friend with a post-divorce name change for her and her daughter. Maybe someone who would help out a soldier for less than a $1500 retainer. I've exhausted all of my other avenues and there are a lot of people on here, so... Thanks in advance!

You could try checking with a law school. Sometimes they handle simple matters. Or try legal aid. If they can't help maybe they can point you to an attorney with reasonable fees.

Ginger,
Pass this on:
Changing the kids name will not be a simple matter.
Unless the dad's parental rights have already been legally terminated, the courts will require him to be notified.

Sorry to be blunt, but that's what it is. Thus, start asking other attys for references, and be prepared for a stiff retainer.

A single mom just changing her name could be straight forward.
Does the kids name really need to be changed?
Don't answer that, just think about it.
