Hiring dates for company parties
So this is something that I was curious about. Have any of you ever hired out for a date to a company party, and some couple time later? Or accompanied a client to a company party?
I ask because I recently took a new job. It's great and everything but I'm traveling so much I have no time to actually get a girlfriend, or go out. And I heard about this party a few weeks ago, and just thought I could easily find a date by then. But that was before my current project.
Well, today while driving back to KC, my coworker brought up how another guy came alone to one of these parties a few years ago and the firm gave him a hard time for not being able to find a date.
As the new hire, I don't really want to go through that kind of hazing.
So what's your guys' experience with this? Or thoughts on it?

would have to be the right girl, and always a slight chance someone at the party would be a client.

I'd tell co workers to fuck off and mind their own god damn business.

I've done this before. Just make sure to really do thorough research on the girl before you take her to meet your boss and co workers. Think Eros not Backpage.

Wow yes! I can't think of anything worse than showing up at a company party, where you are judged by everyone there, and have your "date" be an obvious hooker! What does your "date" say, when she is questioned? She will be, you know. What is worse than: you had to pay to get a date?
No promotions, or a raise for you; no matter how hard you work.
Company party? You probably don't want her to show a single tattoo, not anywhere! But then that depends on the company, and the standards they expect. Keep your personal life and your hobby life separate, always.
You are being inspected! No date? They have less to criticize you by. Just tell them your girlfriend couldn't come, maybe her mother is in the hospital. That will get you some good sympathy, at least. You can cut them off gently with, you can't discuss the illness.
Think ahead on this stuff. Tell them you have to leave early, and do it. Forget the alcohol on these things, as least most of it, because you are in a showcase.
Been there, done that. Party afterward.

I'd say go stag, be a fucking player and enjoy yourself and be able to laugh at yourself even if they give you a hard time. Show them that nothing will faze you and that there aren't personal distractions "i.e. GF" that will hinder your work performance. Than calmly flirt with the female co workers.

It depends upon the social climate of the company--not many, but a few WILL cause some issues if you come unattached.
Having said that I would NOT bring a lady I didn't already know, and who knew me well enough to be able to carry on a light conversation without raising red flags.
I have done it a few times, but always with well established regulars who do know my real world info, hobbies, personality, etc. One in particular is a complete charmer and that group of business associates would probably rather have her show up than me!

Great advice JR...
In fact, the next time I go anywhere in public with a friend who happens to be a hooker, I'll be sure to ask her to cover up the ink....you know the "tattoo" that say's " "obvious hooker"

Umm, no it's not.
I have a couple hobby friends that are just fine for business, or other social events.
Every professional gal I know has an excellent cover story.
And, btw, taking a professional date to a civie event keeps unwanted civie gals away.
One spot is boat dock. Amusing that the civie gals show their ink as well.
Get a life folks.
And JR, write a couple books. I need firestarter.

Nope, there's an unwritten boat dock rule that the gals get to do whatever they want.
After all, it's pirate wench tryouts and there's no stopping the gals.
Back to OP's original que:
I've also seen civie dates cause problems at employer sponsored parties, so consider that as a possible issue as well.

What's the worst that could happen? ........HAHAHAHAHAHA!
All in all, what a profoundly bad fucking idea.
If the best possible outcome is your employer and co-workers thinking:
"OK, the new guy is an inoffensive baseline hetero male who was has a date."
And the worst is:
"Man, look at the new guy with the fucking HOOKER!"
Then.... what's the middle ground?
You're starting at the hooker end of the spectrum.... how good can it really get?
