So I just got back from a quick flight to Austin. I upgrade to first class because it was cheap and I can probably drink as much for free in the short flight to negate the extra purchase for the upgrade.

Anyway, I am sitting next to a guy that claims he has been to the superbowl 25 times. He is older and dressed real nice. In a nutshell, he goes to the game and scalps a ticket right before the game starts. He has flown all over the country and not once has he not gotten into the game. His worst experience was having to miss the entire first quarter before he found a ticket. I do not think he was full of shit either. I am thinking I might give it a try since it is here this year.

Thoughts?

What's the lowest price he paid for a ticket? Highest? Anybody can do this and get in, it's just a matter of how much you're willing to spend. Right now online, the lowest price I've seen is $2,052 for one ticket. They also have a 33-seat suite with full catering available for just under half a million dollars, but get this, parking is NOT included!!!! You STILL have to pay $15 to park!!! UnREAL!

Sorry, I should have added that. He said he usually gets them at face value or below. Scalpers have them and get a little scared as the game starts. He also told me that 90% of the tickets are allocated to corporations. Most schmucks like us never have a chance to buy tickets. The down side is that he goes alone.

I bet with the additional area that they are selling tickets to watch the game outside the stadium that there will be a lot of people out there who will try to upgrade from there to a seat inside the stadium. So I don't know how many tickets the scalpers will have left to sell.

I wouldn't be surprised to find some ticket gate personnel who are willing to let you in for a fee. I know we had some offer that to us at the old texas stadium to games where we didn't have tickets. We just started talking to some of the ladies there and they told us for $60 or $80 we could get in and just stand in the breezeways.

WOW, Nit, really??? That would be insane but I agree with S-A that this might be a bit of a different animal, especially with that party thing. If you try it, I sure hope it works out for you. If ANYBODY deserves it with all you've been through, it's you!

Yes, you're right about mass corporate ownership. Then there's Jerry's allocation, both teams' players allocations, the season ticket holders' rights, the online scalpers, etc. Many, many layers before it's open to you and me.

S-A, operative words being "old Texas Stadium. Good luck with that in JerryWorld for the Super Bowl. I would bet security there will be tighter than an Israeli airport on lockdown.

I did not know about the party outside the stadium, so i may just give it a try and fall back on the party should it not work out. Anybody know of any other really cool superIowl parties? Back in the day you could go to vegas and they had these outside parties in a tent with gambling, booze and food. I was told they can no longer do that as the NFL was not getting the money they wanted from those venues. I watched USA v. Angola at a sports book in Vegas and they had 2,000 people. It was not that enjoyable. A good party with food and booze included would be great.

I know Pamela Anderson is hosting a super bowl party somewhere in Dallas the Friday before the super bowl. You can buy tickets online.

I've always heard most of the tickets for the super bowl end up with major corporations.

Other than that, I'm sure there will be a TON of bars, restaurants, and other venues capitalizing on the hoo hah with celebrations of their own.

Parking will be at $150 or more is what I am hearing.

I am sure that if you are willing to miss the first part of the game you will find a ticket. The outdoor venue there at the game may influence a few others to look for tickets and push up the prices (compared to face or below).
Make sure you get a hard ticket no email tickets. Long story but had a Guy try to sell those to me for a Mavs Championship game, but no go.

Wow, 200 a pop and no mention of food or booze included. No thanks. In addition, they are not even for sale to the general public yet. I suppose sometimes the best seat for the superbowl is at home so you do not miss a thing. A nice ribeye and some great Carlsberg beer.

Superbowl at home and 2 or 3 visits with some of the Ladies here. Priceless!

The funny thing is Tara, selling tickets at face value is not illegal? I think that is correct. I don't know as I am not an officer of the law or Shyster but it was my impression face value elling is legal. What is the face value on these tickets? And MRMR you are right about all that. It is a novelty experience i suppose.

I bought a ticket for Game 5 of the World Series in the afternoon the day of the game on StubHub. It was only $50 over face value, so tickets can be had. I sat next to a guy from Anaheim, who does the same thing for baseball and travels to all the World Series games without a ticket and just buys them before game time. So I think the same thing will be had with the Super Bowl.

Funny thing thats the way I get my game tickets. I have never paid full price for any Ranger, Stars and Maverick games. I did the same at the Cowboy games. Yea I missed the first few mins of the first quarter, but its better than paying full fare. I might try the SuperBowl, but have to be careful, Arlington finest not only have tried to run off all the providers but have started a plan to rid of the ticket sellers out of the SuperBowl. We shall see, I will post a review after the game.
