Default State to Help D/FW fight sex traffic

Just a note that the State is pitching in with D/FW to help fight sex trafficking during the Super Bowl. Talk about a mess.

Thanks for the article. This could be feel good press offered up for the prudes. I wonder what impact the Super Bowl will have for the hobbyists in DFW. The whole supply and demand dynamic is going to flip.

No thanks to all the new arrivals that will be available. I will stay loyal to the local ladies we love so much, especially our lovely ECCIE ladies.

I remember the promises of how this stadium was going to reduce crime in the area. Yeah, right!

That's what we wish for, isn't it? On the flip side of that, though, there probably isn't going to be this incredible rush of fresh blood in town looking to hire escorts. And frankly, I wouldn't make a special trip to Dallas (if I didn't live here) to try to work during a huge sporting event.

Although I have no plans of leaving town that weekend!

All of the events with the exception of the game will be held in Dallas/Fort Worth/Irving.

The AFC championship team will practice at TCU and stay in Fort Worth, the NFC championship team will be staying and practicing in Los Colinas/Valley Ranch.

I would totally avoid Irving.

Might want to steer clear of Farmer's Branch too. They have zero tolerance, even for massage (unless you work at a doctor's office). Not an exaggeration.

I'm looking forward to the influx of fans. I think the slow season won't be very bad this year and I expect it to break early because of the SB. I plan to hire someone to help with the extra calls.

He (Texas Attorney General, Greg Abbott) cited numbers from a South Florida task force that estimated that tens of thousands were trafficked through that area for a recent Super Bowl. Abbott said his office is coordinating with local law enforcement as well as victims' advocacy groups in preparation for the Feb. 6 game.

tens of thousands?

really?

100,000 fans, 10,000 supporting people including the media, workers, football players, etc... maybe 20,000 supporting people if you include police, sanitation workers, and temporary hires for the event.

With statistics like Greg Abbot spewed, that means 1 or 2 hookers for everyone that comes to town for the game, assuming they are all men because I don't think that many women hire pros.

The people who play the game, own and coach the teams, support and broadcast it, etc.. and come to watch the game must be some serious sex addicts to need that many hookers imported. I think our local ones can handle the business.

Or that statistic could be inflated to instill FUD and justify the spending of taxpayer funds and make the AG look good. I think i will go with that answer.

and why just prostitution? Aren't theri other vices that come with the crowd that typically lead to more violent crimes?

sheesh!

That's pretty much what I was saying, CPI. I just don't think that the demand is going to be that much greater to even justify an out of town trip for that weekend, if living in another place.

Hopefully, I'm wrong. But during other large "events" and conventions, I've rarely seen the business fluctuate that much upwards. Maybe in strip clubs it's different.

Of course, I could be wrong.

1) The real consequence will be hotel pricing rocketing skyward

2) Darn! Tax dollars hard at work!

Arlington Police Lt. Jerry Hataway said his department has increased its focus on prostitution and related crimes in the last few years. Besides the sting operations and posting photos of prostitution clients on billboards, officers have started contacting escorts directly.

He said officers will text, call and e-mail suspected sex workers advertising their services in Arlington and warn them that officers are aware of them.

"Each day, 70 to 100 of these advertising are being contacted by my unit, trying to deter them and move them elsewhere," Hataway said.

sheesh!

CPI, you are right, but too soft on your numbers. Miami"s stadium only holds 55,000 for football. Also, most of the security, half of the support, and all of the cleanup crew are local, and therefore out of the equation when bringing in "extra talent" for an event.

As one comment put it (figuring "tens of thousands" as 20,000),

"Over a 3 day period, every man, woman, and child with a ticket, along with every player, coach, and official, would have to buy a "human trafficked" prostitute, for each one to turn a single trick a day"

I think he could have added the halftime talent and a marching band, and still been accurate.

Flown, trucked or bussed, right or wrong, that's a failing business model, and all the AG needs to do is watch them go out of business, to solve the problem of trafficking. Traffickers won't even have the cash to fly, truck, or bus, them home, and they will be free. Abbott will be a hero... if the statistics are real. ~cough ~ cough~
