How did you get started as a Provider?

I don't mean to pry...but curious about the story on your side of the pillow...
How/why did you get started as a Provider? What do you like the most about it, the least? Is this just a short-term gig for you while you strive towards another goal, or is this a service you would like to continue with longer? Do you take extended breaks, or go UTR?
I am interested in your perspective on this hobby...take care & stay safe!

I started taking cruises as a dancing partner for the widows on the cruises. Got many offers for sex but observed the rules and did not.

Then I started hanging out in nice restaurants at the bar and accepting paid invitations to take them home for sex.

I will continue to do it only for those that interest me.

I usually get my drinks bought for me and a meal and then a short stay in a nice home and never stay the nite. Pays well and sometimes I get gifts too.

If you are a mature man and still breathing there is an uncluttered market for your services.

Teenage runaway that had sex with a man for a hot shower and a decent meal as opposed to dinner from a dumpster was my introduction. Later in life it was an outrageous electric bill that came in at the same time my car broke down. Having to decide between electric and having a car convinced me to never be in that situation again. Now I just enjoy the hell out of meeting different people.

I think we all have stories that guided us down this path . For mine it was a combination of things. First factor was I had just broken up with my boyfriend and really missed sex. The second was I had just lost my job, not due to my fault, and was going to school full time. With my scholarship I had to attend class or loose my funding . This made it very difficult to find a job that would work with my school schedule.

My neighbor was a provider UTR, and one day she told me the basics of what to do. I have been welcomed into the hobby by some truly amazing people. I have found a place where I can be me and not be judged.

To answer the question of how long will I hobby ? I am not sure , I do not see myself in a relationship and do not desire it. However , I do desire the pleasures and hights a man can bring me to. In this lifestyle I have become friends with some wonderful people. I am grateful for the events that brought me to this profession.

My story is a bit differant....

I am very blessed with ther fact that I do not have to work, and so I don't!

I crave touching....I just love to touch and be touched. The personal connection is what I am after.... laying in bed and having this person naked next to me, stroking my arm or back, and sharing stories... I love it!

Also, the sex....I crave sexual interaction, and learning new things in bed. Trying out a new toy, or lube, or position....or new trick with my tongue....

And of course the spending money! I did not come from a wealthy family, and my entire life I have put everyone else first, counting my pennies to make sure they had, while I was content to go without. No more! Now I have money in my hand, my family has more then what they need/want, and it's up to me on what I am going to do with 'My Money'. Now I get to take care of myself with facials, pedicures, my nails...go into a salon and decide at the last minute I want the $80 hair cut and dye job...walk into a store looking for nothing, and walking out with several new outfits. I feel like a kid in a candy store, and it's mine for the taking!

These are the reasons why I do it....how I got into it to begin with? My SO suggested it, and I jumped at it. I took it and ran.

I started out with my background in HR and hiring people for temp jobs through a staffing company and teaching classes. I loved it because I always got to meet new people. Well when the economy went to shit, and I got laid off I went to work for an agency booking calls and screening. I loved it! I had been in the swinging lifestyle since college and I love sex. At times guys would say, "I would pay you for what you can do in bed". Then one day, I decided that it sounded like a fantasy I had never tried so I did it with a friend who paid me $100. Thanks to all for the replies so far...it is really very interesting. I think people outside of the hobby hold such a negative, stereotypical opinion of hobby participants. These responses already negate the stereotypes and illustrate the variety of people and backgrounds that abound here.

There are ofcourse more exciting details than I care to share publicly (you might get more out of me in person, over dinner).
Basically: I was incredibly bored in a new city without many friends (had just relocated to STL), sick of feeling used by men I was meeting, but not sick of the thrill and fun of one night stands... and my job wasn't affording me any of the fun material luxuries I'd experienced in a previous LTR. I made friends with a chick who I soon found out was UTR and discovered that one of my best guy pals saw escorts... and... long story short... here I am

What a fun thread! Kudos to you, Badwolf, for asking a sensitive question so sensitively. I entered into the hobby when I discovered that a friend of a friend operated an escort agency. As prude as I had been in my life up until that point, I somehow always knew I could be a provider. I didn't know the name for a "provider" back then, of course, but you get my point! The thought of it was never repulsive to me as society seems to think it should be.

So, I got started at the agency. I agreed to work for the woman as long as my boundaries were always respected regarding available activities and number of appointments per day. She was wonderful to work for.

The agency did not last for, me, however. I needed more control over whom I saw. I left after a month or two and learned the ropes of independent escorting. I am continuing my education while running this business, and I couldn't be happier! The "hobby," is actually a sort of hobby for me as well as my clients. While it can cause enormous amounts of stress at times, it can also be a huge stress reliever. I plan on continuing for an undisclosed number of years, though plans do change. I have my finances set up so that I can leave at any moment should I feel the need. I know that after I do stop providing, I will always view my providing years as a great time in my life!

My favorite things about providing? I enjoy:

1) Forming connections, sexual and nonsexual, with a variety of people
2) Exploring my sexuality in ways I never could in my "real" life
3) Making people feel good about themselves when they so clearly should
4) Having fewer financial worries as well as the feeling that my favorite guys are so willing to take care of me in this way

It's also quite empowering in many ways. I am allowed to be myself. I don't have to put on a show to get the guys to come back, and I don't have to put up with disrespect, either.

What don't I like about the hobby? I must stress that the good far outweighs the bad, but I do not like the following:

1) Being disrespected in any way
2) Being forced to deal with the disrespect
3) Having to let people go when they become too attached

I am semi-UTR at the moment. I am simply having too much trouble finding enough time to deal with the influx of personal and business-related messages each day. I think it is far better to keep a smaller pool of clients anyway, so it works for me! I hate being unable to get back to people in a short period of time, so perhaps it is best until I find myself graced with more hours in the day.

I'm really enjoying this thread as well as this is one of the things I wondered about but didn't feel I could ever ask a provider in person as it might be too personal.

Another thing I've wondered about are the finances. I'm sure there's good money to be made and I wonder whether the providers plan for the long run or just live it up for the time being. I myself have been socking money away for some time for retirement and I'm glad I did as I'm being forced into an early retirement next year.

It's definitely wise to refrain from asking us this in person. No matter how it is asked in person, it always, and I mean always, comes across the wrong way.
