Default What do you want to be when you grow up?

Most of us had an answer to this question while in grade school. For some of us, our dreams have come true. I always wanted to be a mad scientist, and I kinda' am.

Some of you are still on their way towards their goal: good luck!

Some of you have changed your minds as you 'grew up'. Many went into professions far more satisfying than their original choices

Others have been sidetracked due to unavoidable life events.

I that movie Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Madame Mona laments the fact that she couldn't become a ballerina: "Me jumpin' up and down? I'd black both my eyes!".

The reason why this thread is relevant is that "I want to be a high priced callgirl" was seldom an answer to this question in grade school for you ladies.

So your wish came true and now you are?

Me simple: I NEVER want to grow up.

My best friend in Jr High wanted to be a "girl in a ZZ Top video" which is probably pretty close for a 12 year old ... hmm now I wonder ... Stacy you out there?

Unbelievable! I was JUST going to start a similar thread. I have some supplementary questions so I'll reword my title and not hijack yours. My answer:

Jury consulting. I want to be a trial consultant. Now, off to start my research!

This is also true for just about anyone working in technology. When I was growing up, computers were viewed and only found big rooms at research centers, with the main user interface was an IBM Punch Card and 80-column printout that came back from the center in 3-4 hours...

Others have been sidetracked due to unavoidable life events.

Yes, I discovered later in life that one could find the "girl next door" on eccie. Then I also found out that the sexy slut from down the street could also be found on eccie. Well, you get the picture...

So true, I never dreamed in high school that I would be a happy Man Whore who's greatest pleasures would be finding himself up to his ears in the sweet smelling, great tasting pussies of our many hot-to-trot eccie Ladies. For that I am most grateful. Now I feel properly motivated to call up one of my favorites for a little mid-day snack.

I ended up being what I wanted to be when I was in high school. It's cool, and everything, but now I want to be something else. I want to be a person who doesn't have to work, ever, for any reason.

At 16 all I could think about was going to Hollywood to get cast in Monster/Horror films. Now all I can do is terrorize Providers. That's life.

Maybe if I could borrow your Way Back Machine I'd take another crack at it.

BB - Only 80 column? What about 90 and 96 column cards? Can you imagine going through a "tub file" looking for a Provider? LOL

I heard this quote recently: I plan to die as young as I can, as late as possible.

To which I say a hardy, "Yes!"

A few years ago, I finally decided to start living my 'dream' and uhhhhh no, being a provider was not the option I checked at 'career day'

When I was five, I KNEW what I was supposed to be and do and by the age of eight, I had let fear of failure and shyness hold me back.
Life happened but, there was always that restlessness, y'know?

So, once I realized that failure is another word for, "NEXT!!" - I started living my passion. Now? I am adding another layer to that bigger picture.

What is really amazing is that...I am doing what I wanted to do when I 'grew up' and 'growing up' is not a requirement. Let's all meet on the playground.

Young at heart,

Forget about what I'd like to be when I grow up, I'd just like to grow...Hell, I'm in my mid 50's and still waiting for that growth spurt everybody kept telling me about as a kid.

I wanted to be a cop, then FBI and catch killers, then wanted to be the on to do the psych profiling. I wanted to do law also but found my talents were much better in the research department than in dealing with judges and clients. Never made it to any of those things.
My biggest desire however was to be a writer. That dream I still haven't given up on. Cross fingers it never dies.

I used to respond with "astronaut"--which is a total laugh!

Now I'm content, currently working towards a PhD in either something having to do with astrophysics or particle physics.

One day I will earn the Nobel Prize in physics and become a household name like Stephen Hawking

Don't worry, I don't have extremely high aspirations for myself

I wanted to help people, people with no homes, money or familys. I like taking care of people ! That's one thing about here I DONT like, seeing all the homeless people, its very upsetting.
