When the site hasn't "bookmarked" my previous view

When I'm viewing a thread, I (almost) always end by clicking on the last sub thread. For instance, the thread listed above, is ECCIE - Your source for escort reviews > General Interest > Technical Questions, and I would click on "Technical Questions."

Normally, the site would then "remember" the last post I viewed. But occasionally (and this is kind of unnerving) it does not "remember" the last post viewed. That means I have to go back and view posts I have already read. And not for this thread alone. It seems to replicate over all threads. So, I'm stuck reading a number of posts in different threads over again.

So, I guess my question is: what's the trick? I don't necessarily need perfection in this area, but if I knew "how" the board "remembered" your last view, I might be able to get closer than I am now.

The same thing is occasionally happening with me as well. Someone suggested I try deleting cookies. I deleted cookies, then it seems to work okay for a while. It's happened three times over the course of the last two weeks, I believe, for me.
