This topic is a third rail. No matter what side you come down on, someone will disagree with you. The dangerous assumption is that everyone should have the same opinions or views. People are shaped by their life experiences, you can't force your outlook on another person. I am willing to bet EVERYONE in this audience has practiced some kind of bias be it based on sex, color, nationality, religion, politics, socio-economic status, etc... So everyone can get off their fuckin' highhorse and try to accept it like adults, or keep dumping on the shitpile.....

Jerks come in all shapes, sizes, creeds, & colors...It's ok for a Provider to "not see Black men" because it won't HURT her business. I'm pretty sure there are more white, hispanic, & asian men who participate in this hobby than black men

However, IMHO, Providers could NEVER exclude white men no matter how many jerks she sees...that would be "bad for business". Just Sayin'

I see AA men, I have seen a few from this board. Im cool, a gentlemen is a gentlemen, I deal with "ethnic" smells, there is a difference from not being clean and the nature of your diet, race, products, etc.. what ever it is that gives us our "smell".

In regards to my screening, I am a very strict screener and always extremely careful and picky about who I chose to spend MY time with. I chose to stay very low volume and be very selective about who I see, usually in Pittsburgh, Vegas, Erie, sometimes Buffalo... I get booked solid with regulars prebooking so I don't even have to bother with screening.
Screening has nothing to so with it though, I have learned that some girls are fine with being disrespected , taken advantage of, stolen from.... just so that they can get their (forbidden topic) money and give a good ref. That is why I am even pickier about who I see because not only do I screen them but I screen their references as well as their board presence.

This is such a bad subject because you usually end up having an argument comparing apples to oranges. You have one group that looks past the surface of the stereotypes and takes people experiences at face value which would allow for some fantastic discussion. Then you have the other group that just blatantly throws out the racist label at anyone who does not get in line and be politically correct sheep.

I don't think being black should place the burden on the hobbyist, to ask ahead of time if a provider will see members of his race.

I don't have to ask if they will see a white man under 5'10" who has abdominal scars and/or crooked teeth. Letting me waste effort and then informing me I am disqualified would be disrespectful of my time, to say the least. A restriction like that should be advertised up front, or on first contact, IMHO.

BJ if I thought you were white and you said a black hobbyist should have checked ahead of time, I might have raised an issue with you over that. It sounds a bit too much like saying it's partly his fault: he knows he's black and therefore should expect a problem.

I recognize that you're just trying to make the best of the situation vis-a-vis race in our society, and I totally respect a provider's right to be selective on any basis whatsoever that she chooses. Just a little TCB, like 99 said.
