Frankly, I don't believe requiring minimum SAT scores is a good idea. You'd disenfranchise a lot of people. A lot of politicians wouldn't be able to vote. If you lose your ID, or it’s stolen, or your ex shreds it, think about what you would need to do to replace it.

Do you have a passport as a second form of valid identification. Let’s say you don’t, many people do not.

Do you have a birth certificate? Maybe you lost it long ago during a move.

Maybe you had to leave your house in the middle of the night because it burned down during a wildfire and it destroyed all of your identity documents.

Replacing these documents is very difficult without some kind of supporting documentation. The government doesn’t simply take your word for it.

There are a lot of people in our society today who are eligible to vote but without citizenship documents.. I think making it harder to vote is going in the wrong direction.

That would be true if you had already had a valid photo id. It becomes more difficult if you have to prove who you are without it.

you don't need every piece you listed. that's the list of acceptable forms of proof.

claiming you need every one is false, and i actually do have every single piece you listed except my passport is currently expired.

any person in Texas already has a REAL id. you do, i do and pretty much anyone who applied in the last 10 years does because the REAL ID act goes back to 2005.

exactly. some years back i had to obtain a certified copy of my birth certificate in part due to my passport being expired. this had to do with Microsoft of all people because they do a lot of Gov/DoD work and only US citizens can handle those accounts.


so i simply ordered a copy from Kentucky in a matter of minutes online and cost < 25 dollars.

You're talking worst case scenario which is probably a small percentage. You're standing in your underwear with no ID, what do you do? I can go to my boss and get something I can take to the DMV. People know me at work. I could get a notarized statement that I could use at the bank. The bank knows me, I have my debit card number memorized, and I know my account number. Onward to the DMV with my notarized statement. I look like my drivers license. I get a temp license and I'm good to go other than I don't have any possessions or a place to live.
