Default New Year's Resolutions

One of my New Year's resolutions is to not say anything negative about JG.

Of course this means using the ignore button. Perhaps something others might want to consider.

DD, you can start the pool on how long I will last.

Well, let's see, besides the obvious ones of losing some weight, saving some money, etc., I know one I'll keep. I'm getting out of the humidity of KC. Time to go back to the deserts of Nevada.

Thought this would be something outside the norm for replies to this thread...

This is completely opposite of the whole traditional "New Year's Resolutions". I recently had the privilege of listening to a group who talked about an increasingly popular new kind of New Year's Resolution.

Instead of dwelling on something you think is wrong with you and resolving to improve, a lot of people (including myself) are taking a different approach. People are now resolving to accept themselves. To acknowledge that, faults and all, they are complete people, good people.

We are, like everyone else, an almost inconceivably complicated mix of abilities and limitations.

As the new year approaches we spend countless time trying to correct and change ourselves, and if we fail, the failure to change was actually worse than the original problem itself.

Accepting one's self doesn't mean ignoring your faults and never trying to improve. What it does mean is "Believing in your own value first, last and always."

**Maybe some will feel compelled to follow suit, trying something new....Being thankful for and acknowledging all the things they do good/right. (Sometimes it is just good to take time to realize all the things you do good/right.)**

(Excerpt taken from "The 100 Simple Secrets of Happy People")

I like your sentiment Phoenix. I do think the world would be a better place if we all could find a way to be more accepting. Like all I have things needing improving, namely my atrocious spelling as I've been remined of all too offen lately LOL. That one I think I'll just have to add to my list of flaws LOL. Anyway 2011, I'll like to listen to more live music ( big suprise there). Maybe spend a little time traveling. It smooths my restless soul LOL. And if I had to make a resolution it could be, not to buy clothing as gifts. The other person rarely see's what you saw. Besides it's a turn on watching a lady trying on cothing for you.
