Default Does Anyone Collect Things?

With all the popular TV shows in vogue, such as American Pickers, Pawn Stars, Cajun Pawn Stars, Storage Wars, ad nauseam, I thought I’d start a thread. I’d be interested to know if anyone collects things and what do you collect. You can’t answer women!

Obviously, by my handle, you could infer that I collect drums. I have multiple drum kits (some vintage, some contemporary), about 25 snare drums, innumerable cymbals, microphones, sound and recording gear, etc. I’ve had a life-long love affair with music.

I also collect authentic MLB, NFL, NHL, and NBA sports jerseys (some team issue, some game-worn, and some retail). All told I own about 170 jerseys. It’s a sickness. Maybe I could be considered a hoarder and be featured on cable TV!

How about you guys? I’d be interested to know what you collect.

I don't collect but I own a 1966 vintage set of gretsch drums that I've had since then. I'm in process of restoring them.

Nice lou.

If I'm not mistaken, they should have the round Gretsch badge. Very collectible! You've had them from day one? You must love them!

The trouble with me is that good collectors flip things. I hold on to everything. I develop emotional attachment -- not a good thing.

The best collector quote I heard is, "It's not who owns the most toys, it's who gets to play with the most toys". Buy and sell, buy and sell...

Drums are finally going the way of vintage guitars with concern to commanding a big buck.

Good luck with the restoration.

Bought them brand new at Duke Spinners Music on Dewey Ave. They are round badges. All original including cymbal stands, hit hat etc.....

I collect classic novels of all runs, first editions and periodicals of notable dates. I also collect firearms ranging from muskets to modern (all with proper licensure of course). I had my book/periodical collection appraised within the last year but unfortunately it's not going to be retiring me anytime soon...

I collect Japanese anime figures lol have a couple curio cabinets full and some not even displayed not enough room. Basically any cute Japanese things can find their way into my collection including Samurai figures and some cultural stuff. Studied Japanese language and Asian culture in college so yeah.... I have issues! Next summer: a trip to Japan is planned.

Good memories.

well, until alzheimer's sets in - you can't keep a collection forever.
