What has gotten into y'all?
I take a vacation and I come back to Romper Room?
Sorry folks. There's a presidential election imminent that will affect everybody here, but y'all would rather talk about...I don't know what. The Sandbox, designated home of such discussion, is rife with discussion of Austins bet falafel, or some such shit.
I guess nobody gives a shit any more.
I feel Charlton Heston on the Planet of the Apes.

How many presidential elections have we had? How many times has someone said this one is gonna change everything, or this ones for real?? Blah, blah, blah what ever really changes. If we get a republican president we'll get a democratic house and senate and visa versa. When is the last time shit really changed that really, really effected our every day lives that much???
I'd rather talk about pussy and sex and crack wise

When looking at our options what the hell is there to talk about? It's one of those "If ya have nothing good to say why bother saying anything at all?" situations. It's downright depressing.
Neither will build a campaign on his own merits. It will be all mud slinging and tearing each other down this time around. We haven't seen enough of that?
About the only interesting thing to possibly rip on is Atkin's asinine "Legitimate Rape" comment.
Who wouldn't rather talk about pussy?

Sounds a lot like co-ed popcorn: each campaigning on his/her vectored viewpoint/s, with the intent of maximizing return.
When was the last time a "keeping it real" debate was had regarding our presidential election, or for that matter, the latest co-ed gossip?
The parallel reverberates into an echo.
SELF EDIT: If I'm not misreading, that "echo" was the intent of the OP... to incite the willing into interesting angles and opinions?

If someone didn't already believe that the government at the highest levels is completely captured by the financial sector and military industrial complex, if they don't see it now they just don't want to see it.
The two party system is a distraction to give the illusion of choice.
If a significant number of voters can't rally behind a man like Ron Paul even as Obama, agent of change continues to strip the constitution down like Bush did - freedom and truth are now underground. The masses will continue on in their "american idol" coma until the chains are literally on them. In the meanwhile, who gives the best handjob in Austin?

Yep , a system designed by the rich to keep them rich ! Gives the illusion of choice and freedom , all the while you're a slave to a handful of corporations that have spun a web of wealth , monopolized by them . Now go out there and run hard on your hamster wheel , like a good little cog in the machine , til the day you die !

Remember the Patriot Act? As a result of 9/11 most of our civil liberties were thrown out the window so the government, especially law enforcement, could spy on US citizens, listen to our phone calls, search and sieze w/o probable cause, read our emails, grope us at airports; shall I go on?

"If voting made any difference, it would be illegal."
Presidential elections officially became a sham in 2000. The new boss bears more than a passing resemblance to the old boss. Since I do not have "Inc." after my name, I suspect it doesn't matter who is in office in 2012.
Voting has some impact on state and local elections, but beyond that, writing in my preferred candidate as a protest vote will do me just fine.
