What's in a rating ?

Four of us guys did a Bar-B-Q crawl last Friday. We picked four BBQ places that had been rated in D mag. and added one of our own . All of the places were in the DFW area. We started at 11:00am in FW and ended at 5:30 in Coppell. We each put $50 in a kitty and payed for everything out of that, at the end of the day we split what was left 4 ways. We each got back $30 . That's $20 for all day entertainment ! What a deal. Now, for the interesting part. Each of us rated the places on their products on a scale of 1-5. The number 1 and 2 rated in D mag were the two bottom ones on our list. Longoria's in Everman was our 1 pick ( special sausage and smoked hamburger ) and the Smoke Pit (unbelievable pork-chop) on Belknap in FW was 2. We are going to do another one soon. Any suggestions on where to go in the DFW area would be appreciated.

From the green beans to the bbq sauce, it's not like any other. They have a nice, open patio with bar to enjoy some good ol' music and hangout.

That sounded like a fun, original idea on the bbq crawl. May have to do that with some buddies some time.

Also, the best ribs and artichoke dip are at the Quarter in Addison - I found that out at the Taste Addison few years ago and it is coming up in a couple weekends again.
