Default Keystroke tracker

Is there a way to determine if a computer is tracking one's keystrokes? Alternatively, caching website visits even if one is diligent about deleting browsing history?

Would be good to know if an employer or SO is checking up on things.

Yep, it's been around for years.

Keylogger Software - Discreetly see every keystroke:

At work there is nothing you can do to stop it.
At home other than formating your PC and reinstalling the OS, I'm not sure of other ways to get rid of keyloggers.

I wonder if it can be stopped before and after by making sure your the only ADMIN.

I asked the online help. You have to be the admin to install the software. answer yes.

I know there are programs that do this. My question is, can you tell if it's running on your computer?

These are suggestions for finding Keyloggers that are installed as part of Malware, for the most part. But I think qix is asking about detecting commercial products that would be installed by someone with an active interest in spying on you. I gotta believe that there are some that are not detectable by things like "Zone Alarm" and "Spybot." But hopefully I am wrong!

per the first site posted by Celso, "undetectable". I would hope by users. But Admins would know.

mmmm if two Admins on a PC, could they be using on each other?????

There probably are some today that are "undetectable", that's why your only option on your home PC is formatting the drive and doing a reinstall of your OS, to clean it up. You don't have this option at work and shouldn't be using a work PC for suspect browsing anyways.

I'm certain that OSD is right. In order to install software, again depending on the OS that you are using, only the system administrator can authorize the installation.

For what its worth the only machines that I use, where I am NOT the system administrator, are at work ... and Celso you are spot on. DON'T play through/with the computer or phone through work!

A few years back a woman friend of mine asked me to put a keystroke logging program on her computer to spy on her husband's philandering. I couldn't get the anti virus software to ignore it so we went with a hardware logger dongle on the usb keyboard cable. Worked great, not detectable (unless you look at the back of the computer). She got a great divorce settlement. FWIW
