To answer your question, most liquor stores are going to have a basic selection of wine. I have certain wines that I like and liquor stores don't carry them. Hence my question/post.

Nebraska does have liquor stores AND there are wine stores. Now, wine stores usually carry liquor also, but a smaller selection than what a liquor store would have because its a wine store and their main focus is on the wine they sell.

But, you probably already knew this didn't you?

No, I've never been to Nebraska. Hence the question. Pennsylvania separates beer and the liquor/wine stores are government run. Now that's a shitty wine selection.

That's when you know its time to start ordering your wine online or have friends ship it to you.

I did find a nice Moscato at World Market though.

Sorry - didn't see this had already been answered. And you're right SG, PA sucks on its liquor set up and the non-competition in pricing.

Omaha, in my experience, has some very nice places to get some nice wine. In general, that's about the only liquor these stores carry. The liquor stores I've been in don't seem to have much of a selection.

This could be what she was referring to.

Mike,

I go to the Winery a lot, the owner is great and I love the tastings he holds there. Brix is pretty new to Omaha, it opened about 7 mths ago. They cater to everyone with a large selection of brews and liquor, but they focus on wine the most.

World Market has a decent selection also, but you have to make sure that you know your wines or the wine "expert" is working.

Usually the folks who work at liquor stores don't know much about wines, but go to a wine store and you're in heaven with the knowledge they have.

Or, you could just take me along as your personal wine expert. Truly, I do have a strong background in it, as I work for years in that field. Strongest knowledge in my French probably weakest in my Italians. Yes, I am a wine snob.

Best I ever had was a 2000 Lafite-Rothschild, it was like angels dancing on your tongue.

But the best advice anyone can give you about wine - "drink what you like anf let the snobs be damned."

Mike,

I'll be back around my Bday and you can go with me to wine shop. Your weakness of Italian wine sucks because that's my favorite. But, I'm willing to step outside my box and try a French.

I'm a wine snob too, hence me asking about wine stores.

Bosox.....thanks for the offer, but I never go to a strangers house. I like my hotel room or a dinner/wine date.

http://lukasliquor.com/Eno_Better yet = wine bar where you can sample all the wines for a small fraction of buying a bottle. Want to try a $500 bottle, get 4oz for $15.

Ms Elena...Costco is the best place to buy wine. Or Metcalf liquor on 119th. Or if you want to trade....you might have something I want for a couple or three really nice bottles. LOL.

There is a Berbiglia's just north of the Plaza at 43rd and Main. They have a pretty good selection of wines, beer and spirits.

I'm with SG on this one... I mean, there are a lot of good places that sell wine at good prices and have a diverse amount of wines and skilled staff... but the more restrictions you put on where you're wanting in such a place the fewer truly good options you will have.

ATM,

Read my response to her post and also read BigMike's response. Also, why should I have to defend where I wish to shop for wine at? That's like telling you where to buy your food/clothes/gas at.

You could've saved yourself a post if you had read it.
