What areas are most convenient?

Fawn and I are making a road trip your way and we are unfamiliar with the Austin area. We would hate to come out there and pick a place that wouldn't work for most. Any help with a general area that is convenient as far as traffic and distance would be of great help. Pm's are great.

Arboretum (183 & mopac); say clear of Williamson county.

If all else fails, try staring with Metal Smith, CityJazz, AustinKboy (sorry K :-), and Simply Looking.

Yes the 183 / arboretum area is great which is also close to the domain. Lots of shops and close by dining. Yes stay south of williamson county. Ih35 and hwy 290E are also good areas and convienent to downtown. Stay away from st johns area and the runberg areas. Downtown is great but the parking down there is a hassle to most.

Ladies, I like the downtown area because it screams, "Austin" to me. It's close to SoCo and walking distance to everything. The fine men in Austin do not seem to mind paying a trivial fee for parking... I'm just saying, that has been my experience.
