Does a background in porn/adult entertainment matter?

I was kind of curious about this for a while and figured I would ask the Ladies and Gents. I see that a lot of Ladies on the other site I use post that they have a background involving adult entertainment(score, hustler, pent house, bang bros...). I was wondering if it makes a difference to the Gents that are surfing the board that day to make a date. I am also curious if there are Ladies on here that have been in the adult industry and never mention it. I am curious because I have always done fetish modeling and never thought that mentioning it would be a make or break type thing. I have always done fetish conventions (winter wickedness, c.o.p.e...), live shows (Club Diablo, private parties...), art galleries (mainly while doing my grad work in TX), and in a few days I have another photo shoot for a porn site.
I chose this site that I will be on for a bunch of reasons BUT the main reason is that there is nothing fake about it. Like I said, I am a fetish model therefore this is an alt porn production company that has made the official APN 2011 AltPorn Awards nominees for Best New AltPorn Membership Site – Multigirl/Community of 2010.
Another reason I chose to take up this company on an offer is because they are extremely professional, I am friends with the owner and his wife, it is a condom only company, everyone is tested monthly on top of that, it pays well, and I am in 100% control of my image plus I get copies of my work that I get to use where I chose to (usually unheard of).
I don't think doing porn is grounds to raise rates or anything like that, I would never.
One thing that is extremely important about being a provider in this hobby is the ability to adapt and be versatile. Like I have mentioned before, a girl needs to be able to mold to what a Gent likes. I know that I as well as other Ladies are amazing GFEs + Dommes + Subs +PSEs + Roleplayers... being in a porn doesn't all of the sudden make it impossible to be a passionate sweet GFE. I just wanted to put that out there just in case anyone would assume that I only do PSE, that isn't true.

The only provider I've seen with adult film credits was Rachel O ( "I Can't Believe I Fucked A Zombie"), ("Cheerleader Drop Outs"). I was definitely impressed by this when I scheduled, & she gets the going rate with a vast menu.

Apparently, in some markets, it's a big draw to claim porn credits. I have a lady friend from Phoenix/Scottsdale who has been a successful SP for at least 6-7 years in the $500/hour range -- HDH. She is a smart business woman and looked at various ways to increase revenue so she can retire earlier. She found that in her market, there was a big demand for porn stars and she did a series of films and shoots. She raised her rates higher in the HDH category to $750/ hour and is doing well. Obviously , those numbers are out of whack with our area, but that is what the reality of it is in her area.

As for me, I don't have a great explanation for it, but I find the Porn Star credentials in general to be a negative. It is not so much a conscious decision either. It is kind of like explaining various fetishes or individual tastes -- not always easy to put into words. Maybe I don't like thinking that the SP I am with has a memory bank full of porn stars with whom to compare my lameness. I don't know. I just know that I generally don't book with them , even when I am travelling to areas heavy in that field. I often find them to not be my type as well as I don't care for the overly made up face and 34DD enhanced body which they seem to frequently possess. I have seen a couple ladies in the past from films who are more natural and enjoyed the experience. I had never seen them on film and did not really care to, so it was not the PS credits that drew me, but the general attraction that did.

Because I think some of the lack of appeal is the destruction of the fantasy that she is my girl by having seen her on film with others (and yes, I understand that it is just a fantasy for the time we are together and that every SP, PS credits or not, have seen many other guys), I don't believe I would feel the same way about a woman who has just done solo or girl/girl photos or films. In fact, I may find that kind of hot. Again, not able to explain it rationally. Just saying that's how it is and that's what I feel.

Lexxy, I can only speak to two instances when I have been with a lady in the adult entertainment film industry.

One was Summer Leshay, when I was traveling in Atlanta, a couple of years ago, and the other was Hillary Hooters when I was traveling in NJ.

Both were surprises to me. Summer, who seems to have a very passive, mellow disposition in her films was very GFE and intimate. I was expecting her to be somewhat aloof, but it was a truly friendly, pleasant experience.

Hillary, who projects a wilder, fun, more aggressive persona in films, was very cool, somewhat preoccupied and not especially "present" in the moment.

I recognize that whenever two people get together, sometimes the chemistry works and sometimes it doesn't. I don't believe that the fact that these two ladies are porn actresses influenced our dates one way or the other.

I will say, however, that from an overall "risk" perspective, I tend to think of such gals as having been "pre-screened," especially if they've worked with reputable companies. Its also nice to be familiar with their appearance, as videos are far more reflective than still photos. Its also generally nice to know their voices. I took care in both of my experiences above to NOT have expectations of recreating a scene from any of their movies. That would be unfair and inappropriate. I tend to prefer GFE experiences anyway.

To my thinking, it's at best a mere novelty, and a minor one at that. It wouldn't rank very high on my priorities list, and in many cases, it could actually work against the idea of meeting a certain person.

In the vast majority of situations, I wouldn't think much of the fact that a specific lady did or does porn at all.

I have seen a few providers who top anything I could ever dream of getting from a porn star. Once I saw that I could find beautiful, sexy, perfectly shaped providers who could easily do porn, I stopped worrying about it.
