I agree, Stick! Wasn't impressed with the food. Couldn't even hear the person next to me, because the acoustics are so bad in there! It's a good location to meet someone for quick pre-game drinks.

I can't say enough good things about Pinetta's! It's a hidden gem, the kind of place you spend two hours at.

Koi is super fabulous for their secret Chinese menu. The sushi is great too at an incredibly decent price. Very quick service.

As for New Orleans, you HAVE to go to Sucre on Magazine. Lovely dessert boutique with champagne and wine. Need to take my sexy lady there soon!

Well I give you my favs in Baton Rouge:
Seafood: Chimes (chimes east) or Sammys Grill
Mex: La Carretas or Superior Grill
 Italian: Gino or Monjunis
Others: Louisiana Lagniappe $$$, Tokyo Cafe, Cafe Moumo, Bistro Byronz....plenty more.

I'm sure their lots of better > $40 a dinner places, I just dont go there.

As for as what to see a do in Baton Rouge, I have not the foggiest thing I can recommand. Around the LSU / City Lakes is a nice walk but its so friggin hot now, the rest is just about the same as any city.

As far, as NOLA goes I think the best food in the city is either Maximos or Irenes. I concur with Dilbert on Mothers. Over-priced and over-rated. Best place for a hangover, Elizabeths. It's a little off the radar, but their brunch is some serious artery-hardening, lunch at your grandmas southern goodness. Also, a little cafe in the Bywater, Satsumas, seriously has some of the best food in NOLA. Little funky place, owners are super conscious about buying local, and damn, it shows. Food is super fresh and tastes like sunshine. Very, very creative specials. They have only been around about 2 years, but they have gotten alot of press in that time, always glowing. Bachannals is also super cool. Funky wine bar with a great slipshod outside patio replete with christmas lights hanging overhead. Always reminds me of someone's backyard. Jazz played after 5 and they have a visiting chef from one of the city's five star restaurants every Sunday eveing. Always fun! Wow. I really love to eat .

OH yes, and Port of Call, no trip to NOLA is complete without a visit to Port of Call. They are almost always like an hour wait. Worth it, but something to consider.
