Default And another hello thread :)

hello ladies and gentlemen of Rochester!

I am thinking of visiting Rochester for a day within next two weeks and was wondering about any particular areas New Yorker who never drives can find accommodating.

Train most likely. Unless there is a bus from NYC

There is a bus. its a bit cheaper than the train. Bus station right next to the train station in Rochester. Cabs will be at the train station.

Don't bother asking anyone that works for the bus's. Ask Home Land Security, where to get cab, they always know it all. Nephew goes to school in NYC. When I go to pick him up at first asked at the counter when bus # would be in. "when it gets here". Ask HLS they will have it to the minute every time. If its broke down they can tell you right where. Even told me once to pick him up, it would be faster. They where right on as to where the bus was.

I would stay downtown within the interloop. To keep the cab far low. And you can walk back if you have to.

Your hotel should have a shuttle that will pick you up. They've always picked me up for free and sometime I heard they will for $25.

I personally like the train, business class, nice and roomy.. ususlly pretty empty too. really not much more than a bus ticket and there is usually a snack car right next to biz class.

Most gents prefer burb side hotels and not downtown Roc from my experience and some thread that was posted not too long ago..

I knew they did that at the airport. They are there all the time. If hotel will pick you up, that is the way to go.

I like the train better myself. Its not that much more. They pack them in at Penn station. But before you get to Albany you will have lots of room. I hear the bus is full the whole trip. mmmm the bus needs to make a profit.
