The Salmon Royale there is awesome, as well as the Opelousas, and Lobster Thermador.. a tuck away of heaven on Westheimer and they never compromise on quality and customer service.

Floyd's original location was on S. Shepard. He sold it to a group who re-named it Mardi Gras but they still used many of Floyd's recipes. Floyd used the money from the sale to purchase the location just off of NASA Rd 1 and shortly thereafter he opened a location in Beaumont at the Washington Ave. exit off of I-10. Last year Floyd opened another location between Pearland and Friendswood on FM 518.

Other than that, he hasn't been doing much! |

I hear another good place, if you like Mexican food is Mambo's. Mexican seafood. I haven't been there but heard nothing but good things about it.

I hit the BBQ Inn recently. The fried shrimp is still very good, but it ain't Christie's . . . nothing is.
Off-topic, their fried chicken is amazing, but (as noted on the menu) it takes about 30 minutes to get it. It's worth the wait. The chicken fried steak is good, too. It's reminiscent of that at The Stallion in Austin (i.e., breaded ground meat patties . . . which may not sound good, but is).

By far the coolest thing about the BBQ Inn is the ambiance. More correctly, I should say it's the stark absence of ambiance. It's like stepping back in time, and it reminds me of places I used to go when I was a kid. If you ever went to Frank's (Schulenberg) or the Bon Ton (LaGrange) back in the 60s or 70s, this place will take you right back. There are a couple of other spots in town that have the same effect, like the Triple A and the Houston Avenue Grill. This is also true of Christie's to some extent. However, the existing location is the "new" one opened in the 70s.

Trivia: Christie's is the oldest continuously operating restaurant in Houston. It inherited the title when Felix closed several years ago.

I realize that Texas City is pretty far away, but nobody has mentioned The Reef. All you can eat, and I love those barbecue crabs.
Screw the name Independence Parkway..............it has been and will always be Battleground.

Dude... My vote would be Floyd's.... The one in BMT has the freshest oysters, Kick ass shrimp & crab gumbo (dark roux just like grandpa used to make) fabulous bisque, and these huge jalapeno's overstuffed with crab meat.... You have to get there for lunch @ 11 am or wait forever.... And it's been like that for about 4 years now.... Dawg has it goin on for sure....
