Be interesting to see if our military leaders will follow through on his demand for war crimes.

Under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, service members are legally obligated to refuse "patently illegal" orders. The military's primary duty is to the Constitution, not a commander-in-chief, and taking up arms against civilians is deemed illegal.

i feel bad for anyone who gets an illegal order from the Orange Clown. with my legal training, i can clearly say that an order to take out a civilian power plant is a war crime and an illegal order. but for someone who didn't spend 3 years in law school, it might not be entirely clear. it's a terrible spot that he is about to put our troops in.

hopefully, someone can talk him out of issuing illegal orders and committing war crimes. there must be a way he can escalate against legitimate war targets if he's trying to put more pressure on the regime to open the Strait without committing war crimes.

Has Trump gotten out too far on a limb to back down if the Strait is not opened by Tuesday 7 pm ? His ego certainly has.


If he goes ahead with this with no Congressional approval, then what ?
If the military defies his commands (not likely), then what ?
A 45 day cease fire they are talking about will accomplish the same as the nuclear weapons negotiations - just kick the can down the road.

We know nothing is gonna happen. More bluster from a person the Iranians know they have bY the balls. Upping the bombing campaign won’t do anything at this point. Kill some Iranian civilians, sure. Harm the regime, unlikely. Harden the regime in keeping the strait closed, absolutely.

Trump doesn’t really ever know what to do when he deals with someone that’s not afraid of him. Typical bully, punch him in The mouth and he will cower away. Iran has punched Trump in the mouth and he’s unable to act, so he just yells more threats. Such a dumbass.

i'm wondering what the point is of Trump's actions if a peace deal or cease fire isn't reached by 8PM tonight. is he hoping that making Iranian civilians miserable will somehow cajole the IRGC into opening the Strait? that makes zero sense. and wasn't this whole operation about helping Iranian civilian protesters? how does wrecking the Iranian power grid accomplish that?

to me it looks like Trump has no plan to open the Strait, and he's basically flailing around hoping for a miracle. another case in point of how the U.S. president is too lazy to do his homework and too disorganized to accomplish much of anything even slightly complicated.

the truth is he had no business in starting this war, and has no plan to finish it nor to open the Strait. and his escalation risks Iran closing Bab al-Mandeb Strait, which accounts for 10% of global oil supplies. that would put us at 30% of global oil traffic completely shut down.

this whole operation is basically a Trump trainwreck. great move putting him in power after he came out among the bottom 3 presidents ranked by independant historians after his first term. voters' remorse much?..

his response to Covid should have dq-ed him from a 2nd term, never mind his assault on democracy on Jan 6th. he had already proven himself unfit for office even before his 2nd term started, so i have no idea what his voters were thinking. i think it came down to Latinos and other sexists not being down with a woman president. but in any case, all of this present fuckery was entirely foreseeable..

we need an immediate actual cease fire-not the fake kind in Gaza-followed by negotiations to end the war and open the Strait.
