Will Trump Surrender Tonight or Give a War Cry
I’m betting on the former. He won’t call it a surrender. He’ll claim victory and say we’re headed home with the job complete. I suggested several times that would happen because Trump got bamboozled by the idiots he surrounds himself with who claimed we could bomb our way to victory and be greeted as liberators or some other nonsense. It’s funny still that even the so called “smart MAGAs” on this site continuously hang themselves like fools defending this ill-conceived attack on Iran.
Once Iran closed the Strait, it was game over. All the easy options were done. Every president and general/Admiral and Sec of Defense prior to that dummy Hegseth and Trump understood that Iran would take this action and the US would either have to heavily commit ground troops or fill the Strait with ships that would be very vulnerable to attack from shore or the mountainous region surrounding the Strait.
So what did we gain for our surrender?
Strait remains in Iran’s control
Gas prices will remain high likely through year’s end
Additional economic damage which will result from higher gas prices
Iran retains the enriched Uranium they began the war with (since we’ve no clue where it is and made no effort to go to ground and secure it
Iran still likely has some high speed centrifuges hidden away, so there is no guarantee they won’t start that back up soon enough
Iran will be even more resistant and obstinate about inspections from the international energy agency
Iran will be an even greater threat to Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Kuwait and will likely assert more pressure on Quatar and other smaller countries in the region
Iran’s drone and missile programs will jump right back into full swing making them even more dangerous than before
All this bluster by the Iran was an imminent threat might be self fulfilling now. If we walk away from this war, as I suspect, Iran will have a renewed confidence that they can get away with moving forward with their ambitions and continue on their path. It’s possible we’ve set them back, but for how long. We won’t know until they have a testable weapon. Nonetheless, the whole point of this attack on Iran was to make sure they could never have a nuclear weapon to threaten Israel with. Let’s not kid ourselves, it was and is never about setting off a bomb here in the US. The reality of that would be they destroy one city and Iran would be glass. They know this. Now, that would not stop them from lording their weapon over Israel, which would be the target they would actually use the weapon against since that would cause so much more damage overall.
Now, is it possible that Trump will go in a different direction and prepare the US for what will be a full scale war. It's possible. But it goes against his words yesterday, that we're leaving.
Other things that suggest we're leaving
We're running out of anti-missle and drone ammo
Israel is running out of anyi-missile and drone ammo
There's evidence coming forth that shows that many of Iran's early missiles and drones were intentionally duds or were decoys intended to force the US and Israel to deplete its anti-missile and drone defenses.
Israel says they are not going to deploy ground troops - likely an acknowledgment of the high casualty rate
The Middle Eastern allies stated they are not going to deploy ground troops nor will they engage into an offensive action against Iran - likely an acknowledgment that an escalation would be very destructive to them

Another question would be: At this point, what course of action would bring us to a favorable outcome?
While a discussion of how we got here is worthy of attention, it is not relevant to determining the path forward.
In any case, by tomorrow we will all know the answer to the question posed in the title of the OP.

News travel slow in your neck of the woods or what?!?

Trump Said He’d ‘Do a Number’ on Iran’s Kharg Island Nearly 40 Years Ago
...While promoting his book The Art of the Deal in the United Kingdom in 1988, Trump discussed U.S.-Iran relations following the 1979 Iranian Revolution and hostage crisis. Mulling hypothetical military actions, Trump told The Guardian at the time, “They’ve been beating us psychologically, making us look a bunch of fools. One bullet shot at one of our men or ships, and I’d do a number on Kharg Island. I’d go in and take it.”...

Obviously, things were different back then:
A) Trump wasn't a racist then
B) Trump was a Democrat then
C) Trump wasn't a politician then

Trump bluffs - then within 24 hours he calls his own bluff off.
His latest blabbering is this will end in 2 to 3 weeks.
He hasn't been mentioning the gas stations that had $ 1.99 gas.......and never did.

If he’s smart he will capitulate and get out of this mess of his own making as soon as possible.

Well, I was wrong. It was neither. He basically said "we are gonna keep doing what we are doing and hope they give up". We didn't really need this speech. The markets tomorrow are likely going to be very volatile.
Oddly, I suspect the UAE and Israel did not feel today like Iran cannot shoot any more missiles since they were bombarded all the way up to the speech.
Oil prices rose during the speech and are still rising. Guess the feeling is that we are gonna keep going.

Brain dead, monotone teleprompter recital. Could have just published it and saved the airtime and humiliation.

From what I listened to, it was just a whole lot of talking with no clarity whatsoever. It was pretty much exactly what you'd expect from a senile imbecile with no in depth plan after he just spent $100bln for him and Hegs to play War Games.

He was wheezing. It made his stream of bullshit even more difficult to deliver than any stream of bullshit the world has likely ever seen.

Man I tell ya what, ol’ Mr. Trump talkin’ ‘bout dang ol’ Iran, sayin’ they ain’t play ball, gonna hit ‘em real hard, man, like two, three weeks, done deal, talkin’ ‘bout “on track” and all that, dang ol’ military fixin’ to wrap up quick.
Sayin’ “gonna hit ‘em extremely hard,” man, “take ‘em back to the Stone Ages,” just boom, pow, no messin’ ‘round.
Talkin’ ‘bout if they don’t make no deal, man, he gonna take out every dang ol’ power plant, all at once, but say he ain’t even touch the oil yet, man, ‘cause shoot, that’d wipe ‘em clean, no rebuild, no nothin’.
He go on sayin’ Iran ain’t got no defenses, radar all gone, nuclear spots “obliterated,” man, like dust in the wind, say if they even twitch, dang ol’ missiles comin’ back hard, talkin’ “we got all the cards, they got none,” mm-hmm.
Then he say all them other countries, man, the ones need that oil through that Strait, better step up, protect it themselves, dang ol’ “we’ll help but y’all lead,” and shoot, “buy American oil” while you at it, man, build some courage, heh.
Blamin’ Iran for gas prices goin’ up, tanker attacks and all that mess, but givin’ props to allies, sayin’ US got their backs, ain’t gonna let ‘em fall.
Then dang ol’ braggin’, man, say US got plenty oil, don’t need Middle East, producin’ more than everybody, say “we don’t need their oil,” just there helpin’ folks out.
End of it, man, say mission ‘bout done, Iran all busted up—navy gone, air force gone, missiles near gone—talkin’ ‘bout “systematically dismantling” ‘em so they can’t mess with nobody no more… dang ol’, tell you what.
USA! USA! Where’s the goalie?

I can't stand to listen to him with nothing but lies spewing from his Big Mac hole.
And the maggies always going on about the lies ol' joey said. He's minor league compared to the Big Cheato.
Seems universal that the world got to see what a senile, stupid, shit he is.
And no objectives or goals met with his sacrificing lives in his biggest lie of no forever wars, no empire building, no troops fighting in the Middle East.
What say you maggies about being lied to your faces?
