Default More "winning"

NPR and PBS funding revocation reversed. The "I have a little wee-wee" ballroom construction ordered to halt.

Predictions? I say the Iran war/not-war will end with Iran remaining in control and levying tolls on ships to pass the strait safely, which will help to rebuild their depleted weapons...knowing they can be successful using munitions that cost a fraction of ours.

Elect a clown, don't be surprised by the circus.

The NPR and PBS ruling simply overturned the Executive Order defunding the two organizations. Congress has defunded them via a rescissions package.

This ruling will take effect if congress decides to refund PBS and NPR keeping the president from being able to defund them via an EO.

Good, and objective point. Do you think Congress has the balls do do something like this given the current situation? And thank you for pointing out the details, I always appreciate being corrected with facts and not "I think/I feel". I have no problem admitting an error on my part.

I believe that a rescission bill is proposed by the President and not congress. It’s then voted on by the house and senate and is not able to be filibustered like a normal bill. That’s how they defunded NPR and PBS.

Read about the rescission at the wiki page here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rescission_bill

So, after the midterms, if the democrats were to take control over both chambers they would still need 60 votes to get past the filibuster or they would need to include funding in a reconciliation bill which bypasses normal filibuster rules to restore funding to PBS and NPR.

And then it would still need to be signed into law by the President. I think the chances of funding being restored before the next presidential election is remote.

But also consider that as a result of the midterm elections, the Dims will probably pick up a few seats in both House and Senate (due to anger at Trump), that a proverbial stalemate for two years may occur, with nothing getting passed by congress. I anticipate additional Govt shutdowns during that period due to lack of funding and no authorization for additional borrowing.
