Default What Happened to the USA Gerald Ford

Seems our govt may be confused as to what happened to a 300 yard long aircraft carrier. How is that possible.

It just doesn't seem like a laundry room fire should take over a year to repair. Laundry rooms have smoke detectors and fire suppression systems. Ships are mostly steel also, not wood. I'm sure there was plenty of cloth and clothes that could burn but that should be able to be put out with trained crew and high pressure fire hose.

Sure seems fishy to me.

Ships are very compartmentalized also, with closeable steel doorways. For a fire to spread widely it would have to burn through thick steel. I'm sure smoke damage and clean up is a big thing and you don't exactly get replacement stuff overseas overnight.

I just don't know if I buy it.

I have no idea what is going on. But they said previously that it was way overdue for general service, plus had obvious problems with "plumbing" and other stuff. So maybe they are just taking the opportunity to get it all done at once.

Trump implied it was attacked from 17 directions at once..

my guess is it was a drone swarm.

First, it was hit then the fire broke out. Iran is giving America and Israel a run for their money.

AI says the Navy's story is plausible. i don't have enough personal knowlege on the matter to call bs on the Navy's explanation, as of now.

my little brother flew the MH-60 Seahawk on a ship like the Tripoli, the Pelieu. i texted him to get his take on it.

the 17 directions Trump referenced in the article i cited was taken out of context and apparently was connected to the Maduro raid in Venezuela, not to the Ford.

i like to stick to facts and avoid conspiracy explanations when non-conspiracy explanations would suffice.

also if Iran actually hit the Ford with missiles-unlikely-or a drone swarm-more plausible-then Iran would be trumpeting that to every news org stationed in the Mideast, which they haven't done. so for now i'm going to side with Centcom's version of events unless or until new facts emerge making the official story more iffy.

i still think it's strange that a fire caused by some dryer lint could damage our best supercarrier and force her out of action for 12-14 months. then again, her basic plumbing doesn't even work, so there's that..
