it is about trade. and tariffs are part of trade. Nixon used the same act to impose tariffs and it was upheld by the Supreme Court of the day. nothing illegal about it then or now.
why would you or anyone else want to see US international trade hampered by unfair foreign tariffs that are out of date by decades? WWII is long over. why allow it now? Why?

Nixon used TWEA in 1971. Specfifically Section 5(b). Not IEEPA. His use of it led to Congress passing a 150 day limit in 1974.
IEEPA didn't become law until 1977. So no, he didn't use the same act. Your command of the facts has failed you... again. IEEPA has never been understood, by law, to grant authority to impose tariffs.

is it?
- The Action: On August 15, 1971, as part of his "New Economic Policy" to address a balance-of-payments crisis and protect the U.S. dollar, President Nixon imposed a

- supplemental duty on most imports.
- The Legal Conflict: Although many sources and subsequent court rulings characterize this action as an exercise of TWEA authority, historical analysis indicates that Nixon's administration intentionally avoided citing TWEA. The administration preferred to frame the action under international trade law (specifically the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade) to avoid the diplomatic implications of designating nations like Japan as "enemies".
- Judicial Legacy: In the landmark case United States v. Yoshida International, Inc., the U.S. Court of Customs and Patent Appeals upheld the surcharge, reasoning that TWEA did grant the President power to regulate imports during national emergencies. This judicial interpretation led to the widespread (though historically contested) belief that Nixon had successfully utilized TWEA to implement these tariffs.
- Shift to IEEPA: The confusion and legal challenges surrounding the use of TWEA during this period influenced Congress to pass the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) in 1977. This act was designed to limit TWEA to wartime use and create a clearer framework for the President to exercise emergency economic powers during peacetime
Nixon's authority under TWEA was upheld and led to IEEPA
The International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) is a 1977 federal law authorizing the President to regulate international commerce during declared national emergencies involving threats from outside the U.S
.
the Supreme Court did not rule IEEPA doesn't grant the president the power to regulate commerce it ruled there was no valid emergency.

the quote came from the CATO institute article i posted. and i did read it.
"The Supreme Court’s decision to strike down President Trump’s International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) tariffs is a welcome victory for constitutional governance and the rule of law. But anyone hoping this spells the end of the administration’s tariff spree should think twice. Even without IEEPA, the president retains ample statutory authority to quickly recreate much of the current trade policy chaos."

Thanks for confirming that TWEA isn't IEEPA and IEEPA isn't TWEA, Waco.
I knew that, but what's important is that you now know that too.
Since we also know that IEEPA grants no authority to implement tariffs, you have helped prove your statement to be false. He 100% didn't use the same act as Nixon.
I love it when a plan comes together. You can't strawman your way out of this

Pretty funny how you tie Nixon and Trump together….the two worst and most criminal Presidents in our country’s history………glad to know you recognize this.
Both fucked around way too much with this tariff bullshit.

I thought it was funny how Pritzer sent Trump a $8.68B bill for Illinois so quickly... that's the thing about Trump and his retarded sheep about these tariffs, all they do is gloat about the revenue and never say shit about the cost. Just curious, has anybody ever seen a P&L or Income Statement that only includes revenue? I haven't and I make my living diligently dissecting 3 statement financials but for some reason, I have never seen a balance sheet, income statement or CFO statement that does not include expenses.
One thing that a Trump supporter with any decency should be ashamed of is Trump's childish below the belt insults directed at those he appointed for not voting in his favor. They should hold their heads up proudly for doing their job while knowing that senile old cunt was going to take it as a cardinal sin to go against him. I hope their efforts will lead others in positions of power to do the right thing by doing their damn job for the people of this country and not being a disgrace by just going along with whatever Trump's rotting warped mind desires.

Raise taxes. Reduce spending. Stop screwing around with the poor people, and get after tax shelters, go after phony religious tax exemptions……how about adding a luxury tax on corporations that donate money to political causes…..get rid of the Citizens United ruling (funny how that has been ignored)….utilize LEGAL and sensible tariffs…..
There are many ways to do it once you take politics out of the equation.

Take MAGA out of the equation, you mean.
Maybe time to get back to common sense, education and intelligence.
