Might just be heading to that $2.00 p/gal sooner, rather than later.

To address the premise "because of an ad":
It wasn't an add. It was gas lighting via false pretenses, i.e. deceptive editing.
Oh sure.
Some might call it lying and they would be correct.

It was an ad, discussing free trade.
Cracker me barrel, mate.......stock down almost 40% since Trump got involved.
Trump has a long way to catch up to the Biden adminstration.

Great ad! Takes so little to get Twitler sopping wet.

Pot meet kettle. Maybe His Assholiness will sue Canada for the same reason he demanded money from CBS-Paramount.

I think you could find a shit ton of examples where respected Republicans over the years commented then on the dangers of policies that the Turd Reich has adopted now.

Tariffs is just one of them.

Context is unchanged. Blame Canada.

Trump changing tariffs due to this is one of the most stupifying things Trump has done.

Fuck Canada anyways, eh! They can all piss up a rope.

Teach them to complain!
Kinda sad. My dad told me how nice Canada was to us during the depression. Most of the points escape me now (this was decades ago) but at that time people hunkered down and they didn't have to extend a courtesy across the border but they did.

I'm guessing news of Oh Canada apologizing for deceitfully editing the Reagan speech has not squeaked out of the Politburo news sites yet?

The problem with targeting Canada with tariffs in the first place is that the trade deficit with the United States is one of the smallest trade deficits we have amongst our major trading partners.

Canada is not screwing us over despite what the Great Cheato says. All Trump has done is to force the Canadian government to increase their economic ties to other nations rather than the US.

Long term what are the consequences of Trump’s actions today?

From the Canadian POV they have three more years of this chaos. If they can’t trust the US to keep to their word then long term investment and trade deals with other countries are going to be a problem for the US going forward.

Just like the fresh water supply around the globe, the well of trust in the USofA is tapping deeply under the bad water line.

... Canada's PM Mark Carney has apologised to President Trump
for Ford's shitty advert... And told Trump that he did not
approve of it - Ford went ahead and did it anyway.

... Canada always seems to talk tough and wave a big stick.
Yet, with political negotiation (and championship hockey)
they're seemingly "All talk and No cock!" ...

What on earth does that even mean, Salty?

Trump shoulda sued them for making him look litigious.

Carney apologized, kicked the can down the road, turned off the camera and …

LAUGHED HIS ASS OFF!

If Trump is going to change tariff rates on a whim every week, the tariff deals are nothing but
a fart in the wind.

Naw, Trump isn't mentally challenged...his latest Canada rant is soooo sane....
https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldT...43090074364624
The first thing China will do is terminate ALL Ice Hockey being played in Canada, and permanently eliminate The Stanley Cup.

Quote:
As everyone knows, the Country of Canada has treated the United States very unfairly for decades. Now, things are turning around for the U.S.A., and FAST! But imagine, Canada is building a massive bridge between Ontario and Michigan. They own both the Canada and the United States side and, of course, built it with virtually no U.S. content. President Barack Hussein Obama stupidly gave them a waiver so they could get around the BUY AMERICAN Act, and not use any American products, including our Steel. Now, the Canadian Government expects me, as President of the United States, to PERMIT them to just “take advantage of America!” What does the United States of America get — Absolutely NOTHING! Ontario won't even put U.S. spirits, beverages, and other alcoholic products, on their shelves, they are absolutely prohibited from doing so and now, on top of everything else, Prime Minister Carney wants to make a deal with China — which will eat Canada alive. We’ll just get the leftovers! I don't think so. The first thing China will do is terminate ALL Ice Hockey being played in Canada, and permanently eliminate The Stanley Cup. The Tariffs Canada charges us for our Dairy products have, for many years, been unacceptable, putting our Farmers at great financial risk. I will not allow this bridge to open until the United States is fully compensated for everything we have given them, and also, importantly, Canada treats the United States with the Fairness and Respect that we deserve. We will start negotiations, IMMEDIATELY. With all that we have given them, we should own, perhaps, at least one half of this asset. The revenues generated because of the U.S. Market will be astronomical. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP
Let me help you out Donald...I know reality is so confusing...

The CA$3.8 billion ($4.7B US) cost of construction has been funded by the Canadian federal government, paid for by bridge tolls. The bridge itself will be owned equally by Canada and the state of Michigan.

The project was negotiated by former Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder — a Republican — and paid for by the Canadian government to help ease congestion over the existing Ambassador Bridge and Detroit-Windsor tunnel. Work has been underway since 2018.
2018....weren't you President in 2018?

That 'buy American exemption' thingie?
Because the bridge was being financed almost entirely by the Canadian federal government, the Obama administration agreed in 2012 to exempt the project from Buy American procurement rules, and instead permit the use of either Canadian or American iron and steel.

Two components of the project on the Canadian side of the Detroit River — a sprawling customs plaza and an "approach bridge" to connect the crossing with the Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway, a new extension of Highway 401 — are not subject to the 2012 waiver, which means the materials for those parts may have been sourced elsewhere.

Oh yeah...there were those (the billionaire Moroun family...owner of the Ambassador bridge) who asked you to revoke the Obama exemption in 2018 also...you failed to act.

Little late to get all butt hurt now.

Ah....here's what may have influenced Trump's Gordie Howe bridge outburst...

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick spoke to the president after a meeting with billionaire Matthew Moroun, a Detroit trucking magnate whose family owns the Ambassador Bridge between Detroit and Windsor, Ontario, according to two sources who spoke to the New York Times. The Moroun family has claimed that the Gordie Howe Bridge, which is set to open in a few months and connects Detroit to Windsor, would infringe on their exclusive right to collect tolls. The family, which has an estimated $1.5 billion fortune, had previously asked Trump to prevent the construction of the bridge during his first term.
