Bobby, I’ll provide some historical perspective to help you understand the skepticism you are already seeing.

Eccie and oh2 both were born from the ashes of ASPD. The founder of this board was already known and respected by the community. The owner of oh2 was also well-known, so at the very least we knew their histories, good and bad, when we made decisions to sign up on those sites.

Also, while adult message boards were not as UTR as they had been when ASPD was created, they both were still able to largely avoid scrutiny in their early years for a variety of reasons.

The world has changed since then: trafficking has become a high priority focus of legislatures and law enforcement. Lots of laws, both state and federal, have appeared on the books targeting the hobby and websites like the one you started. Folks are skeptical about checking out a new community that might be legitimate, but could be a cover for hackers or LE (the latter is less likely, but possible).

It’s a tough road, but there is no doubt it creates an opportunity, too, since both this site and oh2 have deficiencies that are well-known to all of us.

I will just add one more wrinkle to this: you list your location as Dallas, and present yourself as a hobbyist like most guys here. Taking that at face value, I hope you are embarking upon this journey with good legal advice from attorneys familiar with federal (like FOSTA/SESTA) and state laws. If you reside in Dallas, even if your site host is in another country, you are subject to laws that are aimed at sites such as this one. Most lay people don’t understand what the owners of these sites have done to try and stay in compliance with all applicable statutes. Don’t go into this blindly.

Great break down tinman and good points. I think Bobby or the bot also known as Bobby see the hobby as one more AI tool market waiting to be disrupted. The hobby is all about trust and people. I see 3 things in it's favor:
1. Nice UI with easy filtering
2. Based in Iceland so not worth LE going after except for big cases
3. Based in Iceland so all times are naturally UTC, as God and Queen naturally intended.


And one thing against:
1. It's illegal to facilitate prostitution in Iceland, so this site is possibly asking us to break Icelandic law

Again, the server or the company being based in Iceland is no shield for any principal living in the US. Recent laws in particular anticipate that.

What advantages does this site offer? There's already a myriad of review sites and a majority of them have sparce and untrustworthy (fake) review activity. Why would mongers take the effort to go and post reviews on your site as opposed to (or in addtion to) already established trusted communities like Eccie?

Sure, you're building this from the ground up. You gotta start somewhere, but I think you fail to realize what it takes to gain adoption and trust within the community. Eccie already has mass adoption, and yet we still deal with fake reviews from time to time. They are easily spotted precisely because of the community-driven aspect.

IMO I don't see your site going anywhere unless you invest some thought in to differentiating it from the field. Eccie removed the ability for providers to post ads due to legal exposure several years ago. Maybe think about filling that gap. Right now we all have to rely on OH2 for provider ads, an outdated site with major issues with website stability, security, and user support.

He could "sell" the site to a figurehead in Switzerland.

If he has a contractual arrangement with the “figurehead”, then that might still not be enough to avoid prosecution.

I’ll go back to my first post with the original set of assumptions. If he hasn’t engaged an attorney he needs to do so. A bunch of mongers who may or may not have law degrees is not the place to formulate a corporate structure to avoid prosecution. There are nuances to the two existing sites (eccie and oh2) that have allowed them to continue to operate. Any deviation from how those sites or ownership is structured could be critical to whether or not a new site could enjoy similar longevity.
