The first paycheck I received in the army for 1 month was $102. People in the military, especially enlisted people, can definitely use a bonus.

About the only positive for me in Trump's original proposed BBB was doing away with taxes on Social Security. We have over $900 a month deducted from our Social Security income for federal taxes. Instead we got a $12,000 deduction for both being over 65. Nice but not close to the same.

Money to pay for the Warrior Dividend came earlier this year as part of the president's One Big Beautiful Bill. Approximately 1.28 million active-duty and 174,000 reserve component military members will receive the dividend as a nontaxable supplement to their regular monthly housing allowance.

Specifically, the one-time payments are being financed from a $2.9 billion supplement to the Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) Congress approved earlier this year as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act – a combined tax and spending measure enacted in the summer of 2025.
