Default How are we going to pay for the 1776 “warrior dividend” Trump has “given” the military.

It’s another load of shit.

The money is simply being taken from the money Congress approved for military housing subsidies. Of course, rather than getting assistance on a monthly basis. Our servicemen and women will get a single check signed by the earless leader.

Nothing but repackaging, rebranding and robbing Peter so Trump can try to buy Paul.

I wonder if any of that other bullshit he said Wednesday night was real, like no taxes on Social Security? Or 500-600% reduction in prescription drug costs.

Are you proud, boys?

Yeah, and who do you think Paul is?

The money is coming from the American taxpayer that's obvious.

Originally, yes.

So then do you believe Trump had the right to give this money away, even though it was already appropriated by Congress for other things?

And, you don't find this whole thing - which is great for the military families after Congress shut down the government - to be the slightest bit of a publicity stunt?

He can be Prez for life if he can pull off paying people take pharmacuticals like he promised.

Might be onto something there.

I have a military pension and I also get Social Security. In my case, both of these are tax-free.

Trump is simply stating another LIE like all his other lies. There is NOT going to be money paid out to Americans. If you believe this fucker then you're simply a member of us CULT.

How does that work? Not arguing, just interested.

The first paycheck I received in the army for 1 month was $102. People in the military, especially enlisted people, can definitely use a bonus.

About the only positive for me in Trump's original proposed BBB was doing away with taxes on Social Security. We have over $900 a month deducted from our Social Security income for federal taxes. Instead we got a $12,000 deduction for both being over 65. Nice but not close to the same.

Unfortunately, no taxes on social security was another of the many lies in his speech. It’s not even part of the OBBA. As real as his promise to lower drug prices 600%

Before you can pay income taxes your AGI [Adjusted Gross Income] must exceed the Standard Deduction.

In 2025, for married filing jointly the Standard Deduction is $31,500.

My 20-year military pension gives me $1,580 a month [$18,900 a year]. When combined with my Social Security income we do not exceed the $31,500 threshold.

None of my income is taxed.

I am among the 50% of US citizens who are too poor to pay income taxes.

None of you apparently understand how the US finances debt spending...

Ah. That must be why Zimbabwe has such a good economy. We should model ours on theirs according to this video.

Despite Trump's, uh, hint, not one dollar came from tariffs...the money for the 'Warrior Dividend' came from the previously passed 'one big beautiful bill'

Quote:
"Because of tariffs, along with the just passed, one big, beautiful bill, tonight, I am also proud to announce that more than 1,450,000, think of this, 1,450,000, military service members will receive a special, we call warrior dividend, before Christmas, a warrior dividend in honor of our nation's founding in 1776 we are sending every soldier $1,776. And the checks are already on the way,"

At least the War Department fessed up
https://www.war.gov/News/News-Storie...0the%20nation.
Money to pay for the Warrior Dividend came earlier this year as part of the president's One Big Beautiful Bill. Approximately 1.28 million active-duty and 174,000 reserve component military members will receive the dividend as a nontaxable supplement to their regular monthly housing allowance.

Specifically, the one-time payments are being financed from a $2.9 billion supplement to the Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) Congress approved earlier this year as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act – a combined tax and spending measure enacted in the summer of 2025.
