Default RIP Rob Reiner

I won’t bother providing a link, since every news outlet is reporting on this. It’s tragic, and becoming more so as the day goes along.

I was in grade school when All In The Family debuted. It was by far the edgiest thing that had come out on television up to that point, and it was a game-changer…perhaps the biggest one on network TV. It was also must-see TV, and my family all sat down and watched it together every Saturday night.

Reiner was great as Mike Stivic (indeed, the whole cast was fantastic), and my much-older brother in particular could relate to him. Reiner defied the curse that many television stars suffered from when they found themselves defined by the role that brought them fame, by achieving even greater success as a movie director. His run in the 80s and 90s was remarkable, and I remember almost all of those movies were date-night material for me (it may have even helped me get laid a time or two).

This is one of those people where I can easily put aside their political activism in recent years, and appreciate the body of work they created over multiple decades.

Godspeed, Meathead.

Yes, When Harry Met Sally Katz's Deli Scene helped a lot of us guys in the 1980's get some trim

RIP Rob and Michele (his wife)

lol, yeah that was the main one.

This Is Spinal Tap, however, did not. His first turn at directing, though, is still my favorite, even if I did go home with blue balls because my date didn’t understand why I thought it was brilliant (and still do).

The Princess Bride! I never understood nor cared for it but among women of the 1980s, that's a cult classic favorite for them!

Great talent that allowed his narcissistic TDS enraged side of him create a persona that many found truly sad. While his comments about Charlie Kirk were appropriate, that's about the only thing from his piehole in the last 20 years that meant anything of value. Typical rich Hollywood leftist.

None the less, that was a terrible tragedy that nobody deserves and I hope his son is locked away in a prison/mental facility for the rest of his life.

Misery and A Few Good Men were 2 of my favorites.
Many of his movies were Oft-quoted and well-remembered.
The scenes with him as Meathead and Archie Bunker were burned into my brain at a young age. I wish that kind of comedy still existed and was currently accepted for what is- realistic and true to life comedy.
It is tragic and sad that he and his wife went out this way. I'm sure that will unravel itself very quickly.

I just saw a clip of Archie berating Mike for the way he put on his shoes and socks. I can’t do it justice trying to summarize the scene, but it has me laughing out loud at the pure absurdity of it.

It was broad comedy at its finest, and perhaps dated by today’s standards. It still makes me laugh, though.

Damn, what a tragedy.

I've seen that too. A sock and sock and a shoe and a shoe, it's hilarious.

Archie wasn’t satisfied just telling Mike he was wrong, he had to rip the sock out of his hand, twice, to reinforce the point!
