Growing up, I lived about 100 miles north. My family would come to the city occasionally. When it opened in 1965, I was nine. It was the 8th wonder of the world as far as I was concerned. There were girls selling balloons. Kids dropped their balloons, and they went straight to the high ceilings. Another group of kids was walking around with a balloon with 50 feet of spring and a piece of tape folded over the top. They would walk around rescuing all the escaped balloons. I couldn't imagine a better was to spend a saturday.
