Nobel Peace Prize
Do you think Trump deserves a peace prize while he is so divisive domestically?
Its awarded for courage and integrity as well as freedom of the press /speech etc. Should he get it or is it just a ruse , too early to tell or what parameters could qualify for this?
Perhaps if he solves the Ukraine Russia crisis, but with all the trade concerns and carve outs..perhaps he's put himself in the corner with both domestic issues and international trade!?
What say you??

Trump is deserving.
Trump has positively influenced seven conflicts in 2025: Israel-Iran, Congo-Rwanda, Armenia-Azerbaijan, Thailand-Cambodia, India-Pakistan, Egypt-Ethiopia, and Serbia-Kosovo. His roles involved mediating ceasefires or talks, often using tariffs or diplomacy.
Trump has done a hell of a lot more than Obama did when he won a Nobel. But Obama was a MSM darling.

Trump is in no way deserving of a nobel for peace. I’m not sure that Obama was either.
What I can say with some certainty is that Obama getting a Nobel is certainly not justification to for such a divisive figure like Trump to receive one.

So it’s whether a person is a “divisive figure” that determines accolades rather than their actions. Of course he deserves it, he’s done peace deals all over the world, but he’ll not receive it due to petty thinking like this.

... Crikey! ... the Trump hatred surely reigns supreme
in this thread, don't it? ...
... President Trump really didn't expect it yet.
And the Venezuela girl who ALSO believes that Trump
is deserving was obviously deserving in her-own right.
... Let's see what happens Next Year! ...

Here is what Nobel committee says about the requirement for the peace prize.
The committee says the award goes to the person or organization that has done the most "for fraternity between the nations and the abolition or reduction of standing armies and the formation and spreading of peace congresses."
Trump may have strong armed Netanyahu to the bargaining table but he certainly doesn’t promote fraternity between the nations.
Trump’s lies, his actions, his statements are not designed to promote peace and fraternity despite what he claims.
Being a divisive person is certainly a detriment factor when deciding who gets a peace prize.
Does he deserve credit for getting a stop to the conflict, maybe and I’ll reconsider that if he can get the parties to actually make real peace with in the next year.

The Atlantic argues that the President’s desire for a Nobel is good for the World.
https://archive.ph/AbL7M
To be sure, Trump’s desperate thirst to win this prize is of a piece with his general insatiable need to be flattered and praised—a desire that spurs plenty of bad choices, such as pushing to have anybody who opposes him thrown into prison. But in this case, it can be credited with inspiring his most constructive, prosocial impulses as president.
The challenge the prize committee faces is that if dangling the award in front of Trump encourages him to work hard to end conflicts, and perhaps to not start new ones, then they have to wonder what will happen if he gets it. Once given, these awards can’t be revoked. A Trump who has secured his Nobel Peace Prize might feel tempted to go after the ego gratifications that come with military conquest. (He is already dipping his toes into these waters within his attacks on “Venezuelan drug smugglers,” who may or may not be drug smugglers or even Venezuelans.)
In an ideal world, the possibility of creating peace would be all the motive Trump needs to try to make it happen. But if the ego gratification of an award from a Norwegian committee didn’t encourage leaders to work harder to end conflicts, the award wouldn’t have been created in the first place.

I mean, you can make up a prize if it makes you feel better, but he won the real one.
