This is often how I got screened as a newbie and it worked great. I think most people under 30 have no idea what a phone call is lol.

I think that but I’ve seen lots of guys get outed for turning this stuff over to her. I’m against it for general principle reasons but if she has a strong presence on X/Twitter and I’ve seen her like or repost of a guy getting outed, then there’s no way in hell I’d hand anything like that over.

Right? A lost art, I suppose.

At our firm we require a battery of skills testing before hiring select positions. Part of the basic package, together with MS Suite, et al, is incoming phone call simulations, the skills at which, we find, are shockingly low among younger candidates.

I wonder what would really happen in the world if we learned to speak to one another again, and kindly at that.

Unfortunately, you can thank your peers for this requirement. Some bad apples can ruin the whole bushel. So many “clients” earned themselves on the blacklist for not showing up or not behaving: so they think it’s OK to just make a new phone number and pretend to be someone else.
This is why Selfies are now a requirement, or drivers license.

And the deposits are because people would make appointments and then not show up or cancel and refuse a cancellation fee. (never happened before Covid )It’s not worth my time to drive an hour round-trip across town for someone to not even show. I have extremely limited availability and two different locations.

I will not send selfies of my face or video call until someone has passed my screening. I understand the importance of making sure you're getting what is advertised. That's why I have no problem with it. I get selfies in return sometimes, but I don't ask for them, and I don't require them.

It's universal at this point. When I interview younger candidates, I always ask myself how they graduated from high school. It's unbelievable the nonchalant attitude and acting like they are doing you a favor by being there.

Giving her that promotion gave us great joy and it made her cry tears of happiness.

You're right. I was lucky enough to find two of them that work hard; show up early; work late; and sometimes on weekends. This is where the "golden handcuffs" come into play. The young lady that I hired three years ago was fresh out of high school. She started with clerical work and worked her way up to account manager. However, she's now attending a university, and I'm worried I might lose her when she's completed her program. So, I'm working hard at using the "golden handcuffs" to keep her.
